Bridgeport, NJ – CJ Faison raced to his first win in the Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) in the first Ron Faison Memorial Race at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Saturday night.  Ryan Godown, Sr. picked up the win in the Danny’s Pizza Pizazz Modifieds while Ryan Godown, Jr. raced to the win in the Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman feature.  Bubba Hughes won the final race of the season for the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies while Thomas Prychka was crowned as the 2022 Rookie Champion.  Lee Allen was the winner in the EZ Finance Truck Street Stock feature.

Ron Faison lost his battle with cancer in 2021.  Doug and Brittany Rose scheduled a two day race weekend for the MASS competitors to honor Ron.  The event was originally scheduled for early April but only one day was completed due to inclement weather – the second day was rescheduled for Saturday.

It was clear that CJ Fasion was on a mission after finishing second in the last two MASS events held on the high banks.  Faison finished second to Rory Janney and Dave Brown on those two occasions.  On Saturday night, there was no stopping him.

CJ missed the redraw in qualifying, putting him deep in the starting line-up for the EZ Finance Truck sponsored event.  Mark Bitner jumped into the lead at the start with MASS point leader, Buddy Schweibinz racing into second.  Dom Melair took over second on lap six.

Faison, who raced into the top five on a lap six restart, continued to make his way through the top five.  At halfway, he moved into second only to have his efforts negated by a caution.  

Bitner continued out in front until Melair took the lead on lap eighteen.  Faison moved into second and pressured Melair for the lead.  Faison raced into the lead on lap twenty-four after Melair got high in turns one and two and made contact with the wall.

Faison raced to the first win of his career in a sprint car followed by Melair, Bitner, Dave Brown and Buddy Schweibinz.  Larry McVay, the MASS point leader in Bridgeport competition, finished sixth followed by John Brennfleck, Jeff Paulson, Tim Iulg and Rick Stief.

Faison was joined in a large Weaknecht Victory Lane celebration by family and friends.  He celebrated on top of the wing with his two year old nephew, Brady.  It was an emotional victory and one that certainly would have made Ron Faison proud. 

Cory Hunsberger, John Brennfleck and Larry McVay were the winners in the EZ Truck Finance heat races for the 305 sprint cars with Cory Cornell winning the consolation.  

Ryan Godown raced to his fifth win in the Danny’s Pizza Pizazz championship chase after taking the lead from WB James on lap thirteen.  Dominick Buffalino raced into second two laps later and chased the leader to the finish.  Godown led by several car lengths but Buffalino kept pace with the leader. Billy Pauch, Jr. raced into third with five laps remaining after restarting at the rear of the field following a single car incident on lap eleven.  Pauch battled with Buffalino for second in the final laps.  Richie Pratt, Jr. finished fourth after a strong outing in the Danny Sommerling No. 51.  Sammy Martz, Jr. raced among the top five throughout the thirty lap race, finishing fifth for his best showing since moving into the Modified ranks.  

WB James had his best finish in 2022 to finish sixth after leading for the first twelve laps.  Ryan Krachun followed in seventh with Jordan Watson, Clay Butler and Ryan Watt rounding out the top ten.  

Godown talked about how the competition “gets tougher and tougher and everyone’s getting faster.”  He acknowledged the run by WB  James and commented on the improvement that James has made over the last year.  Godown was thinking about friend, Lester Miller who is currently hospitalized.

F&L Door Modified heat races were won by Sam Martz, Sammy Martz, Jr. and WB James.  

Stephen Yankowski led the way in the Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman for the first nine laps.  Howie Finch took over on a lap ten restart with Ryan Godown, Jr. moving into second.  Godown, Jr. took the lead on lap fourteen but Steve Kemery was on the move and raced into the lead on lap nineteen.  Godown chased Kemery for several laps.  He then changed his line, putting himself in position to challenge Kemery for the lead.  Godown had the lead again on lap twenty-two.  Kemery slid back through the top five before exiting the track with a flat tire just short of the finish.

It was win number three for Godown, Jr. with Finch finishing second over Travis Hill, Brian Papiez and Eric Kormann who rebounded from an early race incident.  Yankowski finished sixth followed by Rookie Champion, Thomas Prychka, David Jenkins, Pete Serra and Brian Rogers.

Hoffman Discount Parts heat races were won by Eric Kormann, Brian Papiez and Howie Finch with Prychka winning the consolation.

The 2022 DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies completed their season with Bubba Hughes taking the win in his first ever race behind the wheel of a Sportsman stock car.  Hughes has been a regular competitor on the Spirit quarter mile in the Hyper Racing/ EVO Injection 600 Micro Sprints.  Hughes took the win over Thomas Prychka who was crowned as the 2022 Rookie champion at the conclusion of the race.  Dan Hulmes finished third over Haley Cook and Dylan Montieth.  

Jeramy Doerr led the way for the first half of the EZ Truck Finance Street Stock feature event. A lap nine restart saw a three car battle for the lead between Doerr and challengers, Lee Allen and Mike Hughes.  Allen and Hughes continued to battle for the lead but contact left the No.18 facing traffic in turn four.  Allen led the way back to the green on the restart and picked up his fifth win of the season.  Drew Brocklebank has his best race to date to finish second over Doerr, Jeff Dirkes and Ken Moren.

Mike Hughes was the winner of the EZ Finance Truck heat race for the Street Stocks.

Bridgeport, NJ – Triple R Truck Parts sponsored the first Saturday Night Rumble at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park that featured the $6,000 to win forty lap Doug Hoffman Memorial for the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds. This was the first of three Saturday Rumble events scheduled this season to offer a bigger payday in a Saturday night event.

It was a night packed with racing as fans were treated to six feature events among five divisions of race cars, starting with the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies and concluding with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Street Stocks.

Joseph Watson grabbed the lead at the start from his outside pole starting position, leading the first thirteen laps. Dominick Buffalino had the Big Spring Car Wash No. 126 on the move as he picked off cars in the top five one by one. Buffalino was third behind Watson and Davey Sammons in the first five laps.

The leaders were racing through lapped traffic before the halfway mark and playing a role in the battle for positions. Buffalino took a look at Sammons on lap twelve but was not able to take the runner-up spot until lap fourteen. Ryan Krachun followed Buffalino into third on lap fourteen. Buffalino raced by Watson in traffic as he led Krachun, Sammons, Watson and Godown through the crossed flags.

Godown raced into third on lap eighteen. Four laps later, Godown raced by Buffalino on the exit of turn two. Krachun took over second on a lap twenty-four restart but Buffalino reclaimed the position on the next circuit. Current point leader, Billy Pauch, Jr. trailed Godown and Bufflino on lap twenty-five with Krachun and Sammons completing the top five.

Buffalino was able to close in on Godown during the last ten laps but Godown held a several car length advantage right to the checkered flag. Bufflino finished second with Pauch, Jr. an equal distance back in third. Krachun finished fourth with Sammons in fifth. Cale Ross had another strong appearance on the high banks to finish sixth followed by Jordan Watson, Richie Pratt, Jr., last week’s winner, Ryan Watt and Tommy Beamer rounding out the top ten.

Godown acknowledged that the Bridgeport competition is getting “tougher and faster”, certainly evidenced by the close racing among the top three finishers. “It’s good to be back on track,” Godown stated following the win. It was a $6,000 payday for the defending track champion. Godown did not have many opportunities to actually race with Doug Hoffman. By the time Godown came around, Hoffman was racing Modifieds but he has certainly benefited from the groundwork that Hoffman laid at the Bridgeport Speedway.

F&L Doors sponsored heat races were won by WB James, Buffalino and Joseph Watson with Danny Bouc picking up the win in the consolation.

Brian Papiez raced to his second win of the season in the Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman but was never out of range of the 2021 Rookie Champion, Ethan Bill who kept Papiez on the alert throughout the twenty-five lap feature event. Ryan Godown, Jr. finished third to celebrate his 21st birthday with Wayne Weaver and Greg Humlhanz finishing in fourth and fifth, respectively. Steve Yankowski finished in sixth followed by Matt Ellery, Howie Finch Eric Kormann and Sean Metz at the finish line.

Hoffman Discount Parts heat races were won by Papiez, Matt Ellery and Godown, Jr.

There was a new winner in the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookie feature as Mike Baldwin raced to the win over Vince Malcolm, Chris Martinez, Dan Hulmes and Haley Cook. One week remains on the 2022 Rookie schedule with this year’s class scheduled to graduate next Saturday.

Dave Brown put an end to the string of different winners that have graced the Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) when he not only won his second feature of the season at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park but became the first repeat winner of the season in the series. Liberty Kenworth sponsored the twenty-five lap feature event for the 305 sprint cars.

Eddy Wagner and Brown drew the first two positions of the starting line-up but it was Brown from the green flag to the checkered as he led every one of the twenty-five laps and set a blistering pace throughout the feature event. Brown put the No. 44 in the outside line and drove away from the field.

CJ Faison challenged Wagner for second on lap two and then chased Brown all the way to the checkered but was never able to get close enough to the leader to offer a challenge for the lead. Wagner completed the distance in third with current MASS point leader, Buddy Schweibinz closing in during the final laps of the race. Rory Janney, the most recent winner in Bridgeport MASS competition, finished fifth.

Larry McVay, who leads the MASS points in the Bridgeport Series, finished sixth followed by Tom Carberry, Sr., Tim Iulg, John Brennfleck and Jeff Paulson.

Scrappy’s Auto Service heat races were won by Brown, Tim Iulg and CJ Faison.

TJ Henry was the winner of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Street Stocks but was pressured by current point leader, Mike Hughes until just after the halfway mark when Hughes was sidelined by mechanical issues. Lee Allen finished second followed by Nick Sandone III in third. Drew Brocklebank finished fourth with John Parker taking fifth.

Jeramy Doerr was the winner of the Cassidy Painting Street Stock heat race but was then sidelined on lap six of the feature event.

TW Metals sponsored the Four Cylinders for this event which saw the largest field of cars in this division to date.

Justin Dunn dominated the competition for the first half of the 4 Cylinder feature event but Jay Lowman was able to work his way into the lead on lap eight and then drove to the win. Dunn finished second followed by Tim Jones, Jonathan Pitcher and Eric Deglar.

Bridgeport, NJ – Logan Seavey ended his 2022 winless streak with a victory at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park in night two of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint cars Easter Storm. Rodota Trucking & Excavating sponsored the mid-week event. Seavey had the Baldwin-Fox Racing No. 5 up against the wall where he found some extra grip in the final laps of the race and that gave him the speed he needed to take the lead from Allentown, PA driver, Briggs Danner in the final three laps of the race sponsored by Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz.

The Sutter, CA driver made his mark in Eastern Storm competition this trip and he’s not finished yet!

Seavey raced in second or third for most of the thirty lap distance around the high banks. Thomas Meseraull, “TMez” put the Chris Dyson owned/Sean Michael wrenched No. 20M into the lead at the wave of the green flag with Seavey and Danner in hot pursuit. Emerson Axsom’s race came to an end early as he made hard contact with the turn three and four wall on the first lap. Fast timer for the night, CJ Leary raced in fourth through the first five laps.

With five laps scored, Alex Banales flipped going into turn four. TMez led the field back to the green flag, choosing a different line to use on every restart to keep the competition guessing. Danner put the Mike Heffner owned/Curt Michael wrenched No. 5G into second and was able to offer a challenge the leader regardless of the line that he chose on each restart.

At the halfway point, TMez led Danner, Seavey, Leary and Justin Grant.

On a lap seventeen restart, TMez took the high outside and Danner dove t the bottom of the track to challenge for the lead. Danner came away with the lead as TMez slowed with fuel issues. Leary had just raced by Seavey to take third but would now restart behind the new race leader – Briggs Danner.

Danner’s very first wingless sprint car experience came on the Bridgeport high banks late in the 2020 season. Danner won the race in his sprint car debut and here he was, less than two years later with the lead in a National Sprint Car event.

With ten laps to go, Danner led Leary, Seavey, Robert Ballou (last year’s Bridgeport winner) and Grant.

With just five laps to go, Seavey got a run by Leary to take over second and set his sights on Danner. Seavey closed in on Danner in the next two laps and then used a turn one slide job to take the lead on lap twenty-eight. A lap twenty-eight caution had the field lined up nose-to-tail for the restart. Danner was a little quick on the restart and USAC rules dictate a one position penalty in that situation. That moved Chase Stockon to second followed by Danner, Leary and Ballou. Leary took third from Danner following a lap twenty-nine restart.

Seavey drove to the win over Stockon, Leary, Danner and Ballou. Jadon Rogers, Alex Bright, Meseraull, Matt Westfall and Brady Bacon completed the top ten in the running order. Bright was the race’s Hard Charger, racing from 22nd to 7th in thirty laps. Meseraull rebounded from his mid race issues to finish eighth.

“I had a great race car,” Seavey related. “I couldn’t make a lot of speed early. The car really came to life there in the end,” the race winner continued. “I was running up to the wall and I found a little grip there.” That gave Seavey the late race speed that he was looking for.

Chase Stockon and CJ Leary left Bridgeport tied in Eastern Storm points with Danner just two points behind.

For the fifth time this season, Leary was the fast timer. The top thirteen cars in time trials were all faster than the previous track record, now held by Leary with his time of 14.779 for non-wing sprint cars.

Ballou, Rogers and Bacon scored wins in the F&L Door heat races.

The Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman were part of the Wednesday night program that saw thirty-three cars compete for starting spots in the twenty-five lap, $2,000 to win main event.

Bridgeport regular, Tom Sherby took the lead at the start and then led every lap to the checkered to earn his first win of the 2022 season. The race was slowed by a single caution that fell with six laps scored.

Sherby was able to drive away from his competition. Matt Ellery raced into second, chasing Sherby for the length of the race. Ryan Godown, Jr. raced in third followed by Bob Lineman, Jr. and Sammy Martz, Jr. Brian Papiez finished sixth followed by Joe Toth, Steve Kemery, Joe Brown and Nick VanWickle.

Sherby, Craig Whitmoyer, and Bob Lineman picked up the wins in the Hoffman Discount Parts heat races with Travis Hill winning the consolation.

Bridgeport, NJ – Boyertown, PA driver Ryan Watt has been the Bridgeport Track Champion on five different occasions including four big block modified titles on the original Bridgeport 5/8 mile speedway.  The high banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park have challenged the multi-time champion  – that’s no secret!  However, his first Saturday night victory on Foley Caterpillar Night was the reward for a lot of hard work and dedication by Watt and his team.  Good guys don’t always finish last!

 “We’ve been fast here – we just haven’t had any luck,” stated the feature winner, as he recalled two race nights this season that he and his Ron Roberts No. 14w were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.  

Saturday night’s win was Watt’s first of the season and his first with the Troyer car that he built for the 2022 season.  It’s been a work in progress that took a leap forward in Saturday night’s feature event. Joseph Watson started outside of the front row of the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature event and grabbed the lead at the wave of Ken Golden’s green flag.  After one false start, Watson had the new Blue Hen No. 30 out in front, running the high line around the high banks.  As Watson completed lap five over Roger Manning, Matt Stangle and Jim Gallagher, Watt was battling with defending champion, Ryan Godown for fifth.

Watson led the field through halfway.  Matt Stangle took the lead on lap sixteen and then Watson slowed with a broken drive line.  The restart saw Stangle and Watt line up on the front row with Godown and Ryan Krachun one row back.  Krachun had raced his way to fourth from his twenty-first place starting position.  

Stangle took the outside for the restart but the caution quickly waved again for a multi-car incident that saw Ryan Godown head pitside with a flat tire.   He rejoined the field for the restart.  

Watt grabbed the lead as he and Stangle raced out of turn two.  Watt immediately pulled away, leading Stangle, Krachun, Richie Pratt, Jr. and Danny Bouc with ten to go.  

Billy Pauch, Jr. raced with Bouc for several laps before he was able to get by Bouc to take over fifth.

The field raced through lapped traffic in the final laps.  Watt took the checkered over Stangle, Krachun, Pratt and Pauch.  Bouc followed in sixth with Roger Manning, Davey Sammons, Jordan Watson and Billy Osmun III rounding out the top ten.

Godown, Stangle, Watson and Gallagher won the F&L Door heat races with Krachun picking up the win in the consolation.

Mike Hughes led the way in the Izzy Trucking & Rigging Street Stock feature.  Hughes led the way through eight laps as he crossed the stripe side-by-side with Rob Ormsbee.  The battle for the lead continued around the track.  Contact was made in turns three and four. 

Hughes spun while Ormsbee was able regain control and continue.  Tom Wills, Jr. was the new leader with Ormsbee restarting in fourth and Hughes restarting at the rear of the field.

Ormsbee raced into second on the restart and then took the lead for lap nine.  Wills and Jeramy Doerr raced side by side for second with Lee Allen and Hughes rounding out the top five.  

Doerr moved up to second before the caution waved when Drew Brocklebank spun in turn two.  Doerr headed to the pits during the caution with mechanical issues.  
Allen moved into second on the restart and this move would prove to be the move of the race.  

Ormsbee took the checkered for the win but then failed post-race tech, moving Allen up to first.  Wills, Jr. finished second followed by Hughes, Brocklebank and Nick Sandone.

Ormsbee was the winner of the Cenco Oil Street Stock heat race.

Thomas Prychka made it three in a row in the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookie feature event.  Prychka led every lap to take the win over Mike Baldwin and Dan Hulmes.  
Geoffrey Sutton was the winner of the Vahlco Wheels Xcel 600 Modified feature over Korey Inglin and Chris Fribal.  Fribal picked up the win in the Hisko Lowboy heat race.

Wednesday night the Eastern Storm blows into Bridgeport with the arrival of the Amsoil USAC Wingless Sprints.  Robert Ballou was the winner of last year’s event and will be here to defend that title along with the stars of USAC like Justin Grant, CJ Leary, Brady Bacon and Thomas Meseraull.  Local stars like Briggs Danner, Alex Bright, Tim Buckwalter and Steven Drevicki will also be competing in this event.

This coming Saturday marks the first of three Saturday Night Rumble events.  The Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds will race in a 40 lap feature with $6,000 going to the winner.  This race will be the Doug Hoffman Memorial Race which was postponed at the start of the season.  The Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman, Street Stocks,  4 Cylinders and Rookies will all be a part of this big Saturday night show.

Bridgeport, NJ – ​​It was a night of firsts on the high banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park as Billy Pauch, Jr. claimed his career first Bridgeport victory behind the wheel of the Rick Holsten owned No. 96 in the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature with the night of racing sponsored by Ellery’s Pub & Grill. Rory Janney grabbed the lead from Rick Stief just two laps from the finish to win his first Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series.

Steve Kemery claimed the win in the Precision Hydraulics & Oil 602 Sportsman feature – his first of the season. Mike Hughes raced to his third win of the year in the Bridgeport Motorsports Park Street Stocks whileThomas Prychka captured his second win in the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies.

Polesitter Matt Peck grabbed the lead on the initial start and led the first seven green flag laps of the thirty lap Modified main event. Davey Sammons quickly raced by Dominick Buffalino to take over second on lap two. Positions in the top five were changing every lap as Peck led Sammons, Buffalino, Ryan Krachun and Matt Stangle through lap five.

Sammons used an outside move off of turn two on lap eight to put the Pioneer Pole Building No. 79 into the lead. Buffalino, Krachun, Stangle and Neal Williams trailed the leader at the crossed flags.

Ron Roberts slowed with a right rear flat with sixteen laps scored to bring out the first caution of the race. At this juncture, Ryan Godown and Billy Pauch, Jr. were battling for positions just within the top ten.

Sammons led the way as Krachun rook over second after a back-and-forth battle with Buffalino for the position. With ten laps to go, Stangle and Ryan Watt completed the top five with Pauch, Jr. running in sixth.

One lap later, a jingle in turn three had Godown heading to the pits to change a right rear flat. On the restart, the field got bottled up that resulted in a multi-car incident in turn four that required some time to clear. All cars were able to continue with the exception of Clay Butler and Joseph Watson whose cars were locked together.

Buffalino reclaimed second on the restart as Stangle, Pauch, Jr. and Krachun completed the top five. Then Stangle battled for second before he was challenged by Pauch, Jr. Pauch took third from Stangle and then drove by Buffalino for second.

The field rounded turn four to take the checkered but the caution waved again as Richie Pratt, Jr. and Sam Martz were sitting between turns one and two.

It was a green and checkered finish with Sammons leading Pauch, Krachun, Buffalino and Stangle to the stripe. However, Sammons No. 79 did not pass the post-race tech inspection, moving everyone one up one spot and Pauch taking his first Bridgeport Motorsports Park win. Watt finished fifth followed by Tommy Beamer, Alex Yankowski in the Rio R10, Godown, Sammy Martz, Jr., and Neal Williams.

The F&L Doors Modified heats were won by Stangle, Watt and Pauch by inches over Buffalino. Joseph Watson won the consolation with a new Blue Hen No. 30.

Rick Stief led the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature sponsored by Bob Hilbert Sportswear through lap twenty-three but Rory Janney had closed in on the leader and was positioned to challenge as the lead cars navigated their way through lapped traffic. Janney grabbed the lead on lap twenty-four as CJ Faison was quickly closing in on the leader. Faison completed the pass by Stief and had Janney in his cross-hairs as the raced through turns three and four but time and racing room were in short supply as Janney raced to the checkered flag.

Faison finished second followed by Stief, Larry McVay and current MASS point leader, Buddy Schweibinz in fifth. Tim Iulg, Bobby DeVault, John Brennfleck, Jeff Paulson and Josh Bricker rounded out the top ten.

Kevin Nagy was sidelined after making contact with the homestretch wall on lap seven. On lap eight the cars of DJ Tanner, Samantha Lieberman and Darren Cox made contact on the homestretch with Tanner rolling violently down the track. All drivers escaped injury but Tanner and Lieberman’s cars had significant damage.

Atmostemp Heating & Cooling Sprint Car heats were won by Larry McVay, Josh Bricker and Kevin Nagy.

Steve Kemery, who has been racing on a limited schedule this season, picked up his first win of 2022 in the Precision Hydraulics & Oil Sportsman feature after taking the lead from Travis Hill on a lap nineteen restart. Wayne Weaver led laps one thorugh six when 2021 Rookie Champion, Ethan Bill raced into the lead. Bill drove to a sizeable lead and led through lap thirteen but as he made his entry into turn one, the cars of Brian Rogers and Thomas Prychka tangled right in front of the leader. Bill took evasive action but was unable to avoid contact, ending his bid for his first Sportsman win.

Hill raced into the lead on the restart as Ryan Godown, Jr., Kemery and Weaver raced three wide. Kemery moved into third and then took the lead on a lap nineteen restart.

Kemery took the win over Hill, Weaver, Tom Sherby and Greg Humlhanz. Godown, Jr. finished sixth followed by Howie Finch, Sean Metz, Brian Papiez and Tom Moore, Jr.

The Hoffman Discount Parts heats were won Ethan Bill, Greg Humlhanz, Tom Moore, Jr. and Wayne Weaver with Swift winning the consolation.

Mike Hughes picked up win number three in the Triple R Truck Parks Street Stock feature. Hughes took the early lead over Jeramy Doerr and 2021 Champion, Tom Wills, Jr. TJ Henry raced into third on lap four and then moved into second four laps later. Hughes had extended his lead to nearly a striaght-away so Henry spent the remaining laps closing the gap on the leader.

Hughes took the win over Henry, Doerr, Wills, Jr. and Lee Allen.

Jeramy Doerr was the winner of the Hessert Chevrolet heat race.

Thomas Prychka picked up his second win in the DA’s Auto Body and Repair Rookie feature, going two for two in wins. Vince Malcom finished a close second followed by Mike Baldwin, Haley Cook and John Larsen.
