Bridgeport Motorsports Park Adopts “Family Friendly” 2026 Schedule.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park Adopts “Family Friendly” 2026 Schedule.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park operator Doug Rose is reshaping the track’s 2026 schedule with a strong emphasis on reducing racer burnout, improving affordability, and offering teams more flexibility. After analyzing participation trends in recent years, particularly the shifts in racer habits since COVID, Track operator Doug Rose said the goal was to create a schedule that accommodates both dedicated weekly racers and those seeking more balance between racing, costs, and family life while coordinating dates with nearby tracks to avoid conflicts.

We have released our 2026 schedule and built a program based around choice, while offering multiple pathways depending on how often teams want to race. The 2026 schedule is designed to give race teams more flexibility while maintaining a full slate of major events, says Rose.

14 points race format with same championship payout ($10,000 to the winner) is unheard of, but Bridgeport plans to do just that. 14 Modified points races in 2026, plus 4 major shows (two STSS events in March & July, and the Danny Serrano Weekend on Sept. 25–26). Teams will get two weekends off each month during the points season. Despite fewer events, the champion’s payout remains $10,000, matching 2025. Rose has coordinated non-conflicting dates with Delaware International, New Egypt, and Grandview so racers can choose to compete elsewhere if so chosen.

The 14 race Points Series while maintaining the $10,000 champion’s payout is designed for the racer who wants a manageable season with family time built in. For the racers seeking a bit more frequency Bridgeport has scheduled in 4 non points events all paying bigger money, two early season (Doug Hoffman Morial, STSS), 1 mid season (STSS), and one at the end (Danny Serrano Weekend).

For the “Go Every Week” Racers Bridgeport has no date conflicts with Delaware International (US 13) for teams that my chase two track championships in the same year. They have off nights for Grandview’s three major shows (Money Maker, Forrest Rogers, Freedom 76) allowing teams to race for the bigger money on a Saturday night. They have shared their off-nights with New Egypt Speedway, but with what has developed there in recent days may have made that a moot point. Word on the street was some guys were thinking of following the Super DIRTcar Series now they will still have the option to chase Bridgeport points due to the lighter schedule.

Modified Racers have asked Rose to modify a couple rules for 2026 and he has…

  • The droop rule and no-spoiler rule used in 2025 are eliminated.
  • Spec 358 small-blocks still capped at 8,000 RPM via chip or gear.
  • The CT525 sealed crate engine must meet a 2,275-lb post-race minimum.

The Sportsman Division has not been forgotten and has also been given a breathable scheduled calendar. While the Sportsman division draws higher weekly car counts, only 11 teams ran every event in 2025 (less than the Modifieds) with the Kingdom of Speed seeing a whopping 92 different Sportsman teams compete during points events throughout the year.

To encourage full-season participation we have looked at where we can improve their schedule, exclaimed Rose. Sportsman will be off roughly once a month. The points season will begin April 11 and run through mid September with a Saturday off once in April, May, June, & September. July, Sportsman teams will have off twice. Bridgeport has built in a handful of bigger paying events for them as well. They will kick off the season March 20 and 21 with the conclusion of last years Sportsman Nationals plus a STSS Sportsman event. Mid-season they will have a second STSS event on the docket, September they are part of the always popular Danny Serrano Weekend and in October there will be a NEWLY FORMATTED Sportsman Grand Nationals presented by Harry’s U-Pull-It announced.

Bridgeport will continue the trend of a lighter schedule for all divisions Street Stocks, Four-Cylinders, MASS Sprints, and Wingless Sprints will continue with relaxed scheduling as they did in 2025. They have called on their friends with the USAC East Coast Wingless Sprints to fill in some of the voids with five shows along with two 410 Sprint Car Shows and the return of the “Invasion of the Posse” event on April 26 as part of the new PA Posse Sprint Series.

Track Surface Improvements for 2026 have not been forgotten. Bridgeport will restore progression and banking to the high side for 2026 while late-season testing showed the new clay’s early-year dust issues have subsided. By allowing the track to slick off during the Serrano Weekend, 305 Sprint Car Nationals, and Dirty Jersey Finale, the dust remained manageable, indicating the silt from the new clay has finally worked itself out.

Rumors were swirling towards seasons end. Rose strongly dismissed rumors that Sprint Cars could replace Modifieds as the weekly headline division. Despite booming Sprint Car popularity, Modifieds will remain the premier weekly class, as they have since Bridgeport opened in 1972.

As Bridgeport continues to look ahead, they are aiming for a balanced, energizing, and racer-friendly 2026 season. “We are looking forward to a fun and exciting 2026 season at the Kingdom of Speed!” Rose announced.

BRIDGEPORT ANNOUNCES 2026 SEASON SCHEDULE!

WHITTALL RACES TO BACK-TO-BACK DIRTY JERSEY WINS AT BRIDGEPORT

Briggs Danner & Dave Grube Collect Dirty Jersey Victories

Sprint cars, sprint cars and more sprint cars as Doug Rose and Danny Dietrich and sponsor, Better Construction Services of New York brought the Dirty Jersey to the Bridgeport Motorsports Park for the 2025 season finale.  410 sprint cars led by the PA Posse, the wingless sprints of the USAC East Coast racers and the winged 305 racers of the Mid Atlantic Sprint Series waved the final checkered flags on their respective 2025 seasons on Saturday.

Justin Whittall raced to a thirty lap green to checkered win to defend his Dirty Jersey title of 2024.  It took just seven minutes and ten seconds for Whittall to lead the field to the checkered for his $12,000 victory.  Whittall started from the outside pole after finishing second to Lance DeWease in the five lap dash that determined the starting line-up of the first three rows.   Instead of using the run off of the outside to gain the lead, Whittall dove to the bottom of the track to race by DeWease on the start.  DeWease fought back but Chase Dietz was already on the throttle, racing to the outside to take over second and then making a move on the leader.

Whittall did not realize that Dietz was there and minor contact was made but knowing that a challenger was that close had Whittall mashing the gas to put some distance between them.

DeWease, Tyler Ross and Brock Zearfoss chased Whittall and Dietz through lap five.

Two laps later, Whittall caught the back of the field and began to make his way through traffic.  Anthony Macri raced into the top five a few laps later and set his sights on DeWease.  Macri took over third just before lap twenty.

Whittall raced to the checkered over Dietz, Macri, Danny Dietrich who raced into fourth in the final ten laps and DeWease.

Ross finished sixth followed by Zearfoss, Thomas, Buddy Schweibinz and Briggs Dinner.

“This is a fast, intense place,” Whittall stated, “but I think I have it figured out!”

The second feature of the night saw Briggs Danner race into the lead on a lap four restart and then race away from the field to capture his second USAC East Coast race of the season.  The former USAC EC Champion has spent the 2025 season on the road with his Hogue Boulevard Trucking No. 39, racing with the USAC National Sprint Car Series.

Ron Helmick led the first three laps of the race until Christian Bruno caught the cushion and took a wild ride in turns three and four.  Bruno was not injured but his event ended just three laps into the race.

Helmick led the field back to the green flag with Kenny Miller III in second and Danner in third.  When both Helmick and Miller went to the bottom on the restart, Danner took the No. 39 upstairs and drove into the lead as the field exited turn two.  The race ran non-stop for the remaining twenty-two laps as Danner raced to the win over Miller, USAC EC Champion, Steven Drevicki, Helmick and Chase Moran.  Ed Aikin raced through the field to finish sixth followed by David Swanson, Joe Kata, JR Fulper and Patrick Chilmonik.

“I miss racing here,” Danner stated following his win.  It was just five years ago, in the month of September, that Danner came to Bridgeport to try his hand in a sprint car.  He practiced on Friday night and then raced to the win on Saturday night in his first race in a sprint car.

The DCB’s Plumbing and Heating Mid Atlantic Sprint Series produced the closest finish of the three features on Saturday night with the win being determined in the final laps.  Jeff Weaver took the lead on the original start and then raced out in front of the field through lap seventeen.  It was Weaver’s second start at Bridgeport.   2025 MASS Champion, Troy Betts and Dave Grube closed in on Weaver as the leader raced through lapped traffic.  It was a three car battle for the lead and Weaver and Grube went for the same real estate.  Contact was made.  Grube continued while Weaver headed to the work area and Betts led the field to the restart.

Grube wasn’t sure if he had sustained any damage when the contact was made but he pressured Betts for the lead with five laps to go.  Betts led the way over Grube, Johnny Smith, Cody West and Eddie Wagner.

Grube grabbed the lead on lap twenty-one and Betts kept it close as he tried to regain the lead.  It was Grube who led the field to the checkered flag over Betts, West, Wagner and Smith.  Making his first ever appearance on Bridgeport’s High Banks, Zach Sobotka got better as the race went on, taking a sixth place finish over Tim Iulg, Rick Lafferty, Aidan Borden and Jared Kreider.

Grube expressed his regret over the contact with Weaver.  “We just went for the same piece of real estate,” Grube explained.  After studying Weaver’s line for several laps, Grube headed to where Weaver wasn’t but on that particular lap, Weaver changed his line.

The Better Construction Services of New York Four Cylinders saw Chris Yob lead the way on the feature event with pressure from Justin Storms almost from the beginning.  These two drivers raced side-by-side, lap after lap before Storm took the lead on lap eleven.  Once in clean air, Storms drove away from the field taking the win ovr

LAFFERTY RACES TO VICTORY IN RON FAISON 305 SPRINT CAR NATIONALS AT BRIDGEPORT

Rick Lafferty never heard what Larry McVay said to him during the fuel stop at halfway.  McVay told him to “keep doing what he was doing.  You’ve got this.”  And McVay was right.

Lafferty took the lead on lap forty-four, led the final six laps of the fifty lap Ron Faison 305 Sprint Car Nationals fifty lap feature and picked up the $4,000 win plus contingencies.

DJ Tanner led the race from the start until the fuel stop at halfway.  When the race went back to green on lap twenty-six, Tanner had his hands full with the challenge of polesitter, Dave Grube.  The two battled back and forth with Grube leading lap twenty-six.  Tanner was back in front on twenty-seven and Grube was left sitting in turn four, bringing out the caution.

Lafferty raced into third, racing by Dave Brown on lap thirty-two.  He raced by Brian Carber for second one lap later. Then he began to reel in the race leader.

A late race caution tightened up the field on lap forty-two.  Lafferty came out of turns three and four with the lead on lap forty-four.  Once out in front, Lafferty quickly pulled away from the field and drove to the victory over DJ Tanner, Brian Carber, Dave Brown and Kevin Nagy.  Bob DeVault, Buddy Schweibinz, Tim Iulg, Troy Betts and George Loux rounded out the top ten.

After years of 410 experience, Lafferty began to work with Larry McVay last season.  McVay gave all the credit to Lafferty and his father.  “It was all Rick and his dad,” McVay recounted. “They built this car with parts that I had around.”  The No. 83 was not painted nor lettered but it was fast.

The win was a first for Lafferty in a 305.  It was also a first win for McVay.

Jasen Geesaman raced to his first extra distance win on the High Banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park.  Geesaman has won frequently in regular Saturday night events but could only master runner-up finishes in the long distance events.

That was until Saturday night.

Geesaman grabbed the lead from his outside pole start and then drove away from the field to pick up the win in the fifty lap feature event for the Insta Signs Plus Street Stocks, sponsored by Roveta Speed and Mr. Blue Beard.

While Geesaman’s ride seemed effortless, it was anything but for Bailey Tolson and Chris Derr who raced hard for second for more than half of the race.  Tolson had Derr on his back bumper or occasionally looking to the inside or outside but he never let up and raced hard to finish second.  Derr finished third followed by Kyle Saylor and Spider Ensinger, Jr.

Kevin Heckman finished sixth followed by Shane Grosso, Mike Baldwin, Butch Heisel and Scott Freed completed the top ten at the checkered.

Wayne Weaver drove to yet another topless Ice Less 602 Sportsman feature, leading every one of the twenty-five laps on his way to the checkered.  Ethan Young had a strong outing to finish second, fighting off the challenges provided by Trent Willey throughout the race.

For the ageless veteran, it was the third win of the season for Weaver.  Young finished second followed by Willey, Duncan Molesworth and Charley Cossaboone.

Jonathan Swanson turned the tables on Stan Ploski III and picked up his third win of the season in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints.

The head’s up start had Ploski on the pole with Swanson to his outside.  Swanson used the outside to roll into the lead.  Ploski challenged repeatedly but Swanson was not to be denied on this night.

It was Swanson for the win over Ploski, Mick D’Agostino and Wayne Scott.

Night one of the Ron Faison Memorial weekend saw some familiar faces in the Insta Sign Plus Victory Lane.   Buddy Schweibinz raced to his first 305 win if the season at Bridgeport in the twenty-five lap DCB’S Plumbing & Heating Mid Atlantic Sprint Series feature event.  Jasen Geesaman raced to the win in the Insta Signs Plus Street Stock feature while Stan Ploski III led flag to flag for the win in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints.  Charley Cossaboone raced to his first win in his Rookie season in the Underdog 15 for winless 602 Sportsman.

Three time series champion, Schweibinz raced to the win after taking the lead from Jared Kreider on lap one. Nick Sweigert raced by 2025 MASS Champion, Troy Betts, right before a lap seventeen caution.  Sweigert trailed Schweibinz to the checkered followed by Betts who had Timmy Bitner on his tail as they raced to the finish.  Jared Kreider finished fifth in the Haggenbottom No.24.

Aidan Borden finished 6th followed by Dave Brown, Jeff Paulson, Brian Carber and Dan Leaper.   The racing was great and a good indicator of what was to come in Saturday night’s action.

Schweibinz did have a win at Bridgeport earlier in the season while racing with the United Racing Club.

Jasen Geesaman raced to the win the fifteen lap Insta Signs Plus of Delaware feature.  Chris Derr returned to the wheel of an old ride as a team mate to Geesaman and led the first five laps of the feature.  They raced four wide for second on the first lap as Geesaman, Bailey Tolson, Scott Freed and Heisel battled through turn two with Geesaman taking over second.  Geesaman took the lead from Derr on lap six while Tolson battled with 2025 Track Champion, Mike Hughes.

As Geesaman raced to the checkered, the three eighteens followed with Tolson taking second over Hughes and Derr.  Darren Cox rounded out the top five at the finish.  Scott Freed, Nick Sandone III, Jimmy Combs, Mike Baldwinn and Spider Ensinger, Jr. completed the top ten at the checkered.

Stan Ploski, III made his statement with a flag-to-flag win in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints as he raced ahead of Jonathan Swanson, Wayne Scott, Heidi Hedin and Andrew Hunt for the win

Charley Cossaboone continued the family tradition as he raced to his first victory in the Ice Less 602 Sportsman.  Bringing the yellow No. 7a back to Bridgeport this season, Charley continues in the tradition of his grandfather, Chic Cossaboone, a past champion and much loved Bridgeport competitor.  Duncan Molesworth finished second with Lew Moore taking third.
