$15,000 Payday, a Stunning Weekend Sweep and a Championship Celebration Highlight an Electrifying “Dirty Jersey Finale” at Bridgeport!

SWEDESBORO, NJ — The thunder of horsepower, the thrill of wheel-to-wheel battles and the pursuit of big-money glory took center stage as the Dirty Jersey Finale presented by Weikert Livestock delivered an unforgettable night of sprint car racing at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park!
When the final checkered flag waved over the South Jersey high banks, three drivers had written their own remarkable stories.
Anthony Macri powered his way to a spectacular $15,000 victory in the 30-lap 410 Sprint Car main event, making the winning move in the closing laps to capture one of the weekend’s most coveted prizes.
Chelby Hinton completed a sensational two-night sweep of the USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint competition, collecting the $2,000 Sandoe’s Fruit Market bonus and turning an unexpected opportunity into a dream weekend.
Troy Betts turned Friday night’s heartbreak into Saturday night’s triumph, dominating the DCB’s Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series finale to close out another championship season in winning fashion!
Three winners. Three incredible stories. One unforgettable Dirty Jersey Finale!
When $15,000 is on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and Anthony Macri proved once again why he’s among the most formidable competitors in 410 Sprint Car racing!
The 30-lap main event began with Jordan Thomas drawing the coveted pole position alongside Troy Wagaman. When the green flag waved, Thomas wasted little time establishing himself as the man to beat, charging into the early lead.
Thomas set the pace with Macri, Wagaman, Logan Rumsey and Danny Dietrich giving chase as the field thundered around Bridgeport’s high banks.
As the race approached its midpoint, Thomas continued to control the action, but the pressure was building. Macri remained within striking distance, with Dietrich, Wagaman and Chase Dietz battling behind the leaders.
Then came the moment that would decide the $15,000 showdown. With ten laps remaining, Thomas encountered slower traffic, and Macri saw his opportunity.
The Pennsylvania powerhouse closed rapidly on the leader, searching high and low for a way around Thomas. Macri first tested the outside before diving to the inside, looking for the opening that could deliver the biggest payday of the weekend.
With eight laps remaining, Macri made his move, wrestled the lead away from Thomas and never looked back. Once out front, Macri unleashed the speed of his machine, pulling away from the competition and racing toward the checkered flag.
When the checkered flags waved, Anthony Macri was the king of the Dirty Jersey Finale, collecting the $15,000 winner’s prize. Thomas turned in an impressive performance to finish second, while Dietrich completed the podium in third. Wagaman crossed the line fourth, with Ryan Smith rounding out the top five. Brock Zearfoss finished sixth, followed by Justin Whittall, Chase Dietz, Lance Dewease and Friday night’s Non-Winners feature winner Tyler Ross.
Deitz earned the Betts Garage Fastest Lap Award, while Whittall charged from his sixteenth starting position to finish seventh, earning the Mitch Bodine Magoo’s Motorsickles Hard Charger Award after advancing nine positions. But when the money was on the line and the laps were winding down, it was Macri who delivered the winning move!
Sometimes the greatest racing stories begin with an opportunity nobody saw coming.
For Chelby Hinton, the Dirty Jersey Finale became exactly that!
What started as an opportunity to have some fun behind the wheel of the Hogue Racing No. 39 turned into an extraordinary weekend that Hinton and the entire team won’t soon forget.
Hinton, originally from Louisiana, relocated to Indiana to be closer to the heart of USAC racing. Whenever the Hogue team came to town, Hinton would often lend a helping hand.
Following the announcement that Briggs Danner and the Hogue team had parted ways, car owner Tim Hogue reached out to Hinton with an invitation to drive the No. 39 at Bridgeport.
The expectations were simple. Go racing, have some fun and see what happens.
What happened was nothing short of spectacular! Hinton opened the weekend by winning Friday night’s USAC East Coast Non-Winners feature. But Saturday presented an entirely different challenge, with the full field of wingless sprint car competitors ready to battle for victory.
Jonathan Swanson and Tyler Brehm led the field to the green for the 25-lap main event, with Brehm taking command on the opening circuit. Brehm led Swanson, Hinton, Brendan Hires and Kyle Spence through the early stages as the field battled for position.
But Hinton was on the move. After working his way around Swanson for second, Hinton set his sights on Brehm and began closing the gap. On lap ten, Hinton made the decisive move, charging past Brehm to take command of the race!
At the halfway mark, Hinton led Brehm, with Spence, Ron Helmick and Hires completing the top five. from there, Hinton was simply unstoppable. The driver who had never raced at Bridgeport before continued to stretch his advantage, powering the Hogue No. 39 to the checkered flag and completing an incredible weekend sweep!
Two nights, two victories, one unbelievable “Dirty Jersey Finale” sweep. The victory also earned Hinton the $2,000 Sandoe’s Fruit Market bonus for winning both weekend events.
Brehm, driving the Kevin Kelly wingless sprint car, finished second, followed by Spence, Kenny Miller III and Hires. Steven Drevicki finished sixth, putting the finishing touches on his 2026 USAC East Coast Championship. Christian Bruno crossed the line seventh, followed by Helmick, Jared Kreider and Swanson.
But the story everyone was talking about belonged to Hinton. “We were just going to have a fun weekend,” Hinton explained. “Tim and I talked on the way from the airport and we honestly thought we could win on Friday night but didn’t know how we’d do against the full field on Saturday.”
It was Hinton’s first visit to Bridgeport, his first trip to New Jersey and one of only a handful of wingless sprint car starts this season. He left with two victories, a $2,000 bonus and memories that will last a lifetime. Talk about making the most of an opportunity!
Troy Betts, Saturday night’s DCB’s Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series finale was about more than another trip to Victory Lane, it was about redemption.
Just 24 hours earlier, Betts appeared headed toward victory in Friday night’s feature when a blown right rear tire brought his hopes of winning to a heartbreaking end, but champions don’t dwell on disappointment they come back stronger and that’s exactly what the two-time defending MASS champion did.
Betts returned Saturday determined to finish what he had started, and from the drop of the green flag, he made his intentions crystal clear. The Betts Garage driver took command of the 25-lap main event and never surrendered the lead!
“I really wanted to end the season with a clean sweep,” Betts explained. “We had the car to beat all weekend” but getting back to the track Saturday required more than repairing the race car.
Following Friday night’s disappointment, the team faced the challenge of completing the necessary maintenance and preparation while allowing Betts to attend his daughter’s final soccer game of the season.
With the work completed, Betts returned to Bridgeport ready for business and business was booming!
As the race unfolded, Betts demonstrated why he has become one of the most consistent competitors in the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. Watching the racing surface change throughout the event, Betts recognized that the preferred groove was shifting from the top of the speedway toward the middle and bottom. He adjusted accordingly, keeping his machine out front while his challengers searched for an opportunity.
Two late-race cautions gave Rick Lafferty a chance to mount a serious challenge, but Betts was ready. Each time the field returned to green, Betts adapted his racing line and maintained control.
Betts raced beneath the checkered flag to capture the Dirty Jersey Finale victory, erasing the frustration of Friday night and closing his season with another impressive performance.
Lafferty finished second, followed by Jared Kreider, Eddie Wagner and Cole Dewease. John Braim crossed the line sixth, with Josh Bricker, Tyler Erdley, Ryan Schultz and Jon Brennfleck completing the top ten.
The victory provided a fitting conclusion to another championship season for Betts and the entire Betts Garage operation. Having already secured the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Championship, Betts celebrated his second consecutive series title.
With just three DNFs over the past two seasons, the team’s remarkable consistency speaks volumes about the dedication, preparation and commitment of the entire Betts Garage crew. Two championships in two years. And one final trip to Victory Lane to put an exclamation point on an outstanding season!
A “Dirty Jersey Finale’ to remember! From Anthony Macri’s late-race charge to a $15,000 payday, to Chelby Hinton’s remarkable two-night sweep, to Troy Betts’ triumphant return from heartbreak, the “Dirty Jersey Finale” delivered the kind of unforgettable moments that make dirt track racing so special.
There were dramatic passes, dominant performances, championship celebrations and emotional victories and through it all, Bridgeport Motorsports Park high banks once again provided the stage for some of the most exciting sprint car racing in the Northeast. When the final checkered flag waved, the 2026 “Dirty Jersey Finale” had delivered a spectacular finish!
The fans and racers of Bridgeport look forward to what the 2027 season schedule has in store. The season opener of March 19 & 20th has been announced. The :Kingdom of Speed” will open with the Doug Hoffman Memorial, Short Track Super Series weekend!
