When Doug Rose’s vision turned the Bridgeport Speedway into the High Banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park, a whole new chapter of racing was begun at the Logan Township speed plant. Rose has continued to offer opportunities to different racing disciplines and has greatly expanded the “menu” of Bridgeport’s competition. Race drivers from across the country watch events at Bridgeport in preparation for their opportunity to race on the High Banks.
While the Modifieds, 602 Sportsman and Street Stocks continue as regular Saturday night divisions, sprint cars have taken on an expanded role in the track schedule.
The Mid Atlantic Sprint Series (MASS) has become a regular feature on Saturday nights. The winged 305 competitors are featured seventeen times on the 2024 schedule including several special events.
The weekend of June 13-15 has been dedicated as the Joe Kay Memorial Weekend. Kay lost his life in an non-racing accident last year and his friends and fellow competitors will honor his memory on this three day race weekend. To know Joe was to love him. Joe Kay never met anyone that he didn’t like.
The weekend gets underway on Friday evening MASS, Street Stocks, the Victory Fuel wingless 602 sprints (NEWS) on the 4/10th while track while the Speedway Entertainment All Star and Junior Slingshots will compete on the quarter mile track. On Saturday, MASS will be joined by Sportsman, NEWS, Four Cylinders, Rookie and Vintage. Sunday’s program will consist of Super Late Models, Modifieds and Four Cylinders to complete the three day weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, October 17th and 18th, the Ron Faison Memorial Race will be run as part of the 305 Racesaver Nationals. MASS will compete in a fifty lap feature event as part of the Saturday night program. NEWS, Sportsman and Street Stocks will also be featured in this two day program.
The final race of the season is the Dirty Jersey weekend on Friday and Saturday of October 31 and November 1. The Dirty Jersey will feature the 410 Sprint Cars but the 305 was be on the schedule for both days.
The wingless 602 sprints (NEWS) have done very well at Bridgeport and will enjoy an expanded season with more than twenty race dates during the 2025 season. With an expanded schedule, this division continues to attract new competitors to this division.
The USAC National Sprint Series will appear at Bridgeport on Wednesday, June 18 during the Eastern Storm. This is always a popular event that features drivers like Robert Ballou, CJ Leary, Kevin Thomas, Jr. and many more. Two area drivers, Joe Amantea and Briggs Danner will be following this series this season and will return to their “home” turf during the Eastern Storm.
The USAC East Coast wingless sprints will make four Bridgeport appearances this year including both days of the season finale, the Dirty Jersey. On Friday night October 31, non-winning drivers will compete in a special non-winners event to be followed on Saturday by a full show. USAC EC will also on appear on Saturday nights July 19th and September 20th.
United Racing Club (URC) feature winged sprint cars with 360 cu. in. engines. URC will appear with the USAC Eastern Storm on Wednesday, June 18 and again on Saturday June 26 and September 20.
AND, making their return to Bridgeport this season, Kyle Larson’s and Brad Sweet’s High Limit Series featuring many of the leading winged sprint car talents from throughout the United States. Drivers like St. Helena, CA Rico Abreu, driver of the Buch Motorsports No. 13, Daison Pursley, and many more will be on hand for this very popular event. Abreu was the race winner when the High Limit made their first appearance here in 2023.
