Bridgeport, NJ – ​​It was a night of firsts on the high banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park as Billy Pauch, Jr. claimed his career first Bridgeport victory behind the wheel of the Rick Holsten owned No. 96 in the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature with the night of racing sponsored by Ellery’s Pub & Grill. Rory Janney grabbed the lead from Rick Stief just two laps from the finish to win his first Delaware Auto Exchange Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series.

Steve Kemery claimed the win in the Precision Hydraulics & Oil 602 Sportsman feature – his first of the season. Mike Hughes raced to his third win of the year in the Bridgeport Motorsports Park Street Stocks whileThomas Prychka captured his second win in the DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies.

Polesitter Matt Peck grabbed the lead on the initial start and led the first seven green flag laps of the thirty lap Modified main event. Davey Sammons quickly raced by Dominick Buffalino to take over second on lap two. Positions in the top five were changing every lap as Peck led Sammons, Buffalino, Ryan Krachun and Matt Stangle through lap five.

Sammons used an outside move off of turn two on lap eight to put the Pioneer Pole Building No. 79 into the lead. Buffalino, Krachun, Stangle and Neal Williams trailed the leader at the crossed flags.

Ron Roberts slowed with a right rear flat with sixteen laps scored to bring out the first caution of the race. At this juncture, Ryan Godown and Billy Pauch, Jr. were battling for positions just within the top ten.

Sammons led the way as Krachun rook over second after a back-and-forth battle with Buffalino for the position. With ten laps to go, Stangle and Ryan Watt completed the top five with Pauch, Jr. running in sixth.

One lap later, a jingle in turn three had Godown heading to the pits to change a right rear flat. On the restart, the field got bottled up that resulted in a multi-car incident in turn four that required some time to clear. All cars were able to continue with the exception of Clay Butler and Joseph Watson whose cars were locked together.

Buffalino reclaimed second on the restart as Stangle, Pauch, Jr. and Krachun completed the top five. Then Stangle battled for second before he was challenged by Pauch, Jr. Pauch took third from Stangle and then drove by Buffalino for second.

The field rounded turn four to take the checkered but the caution waved again as Richie Pratt, Jr. and Sam Martz were sitting between turns one and two.

It was a green and checkered finish with Sammons leading Pauch, Krachun, Buffalino and Stangle to the stripe. However, Sammons No. 79 did not pass the post-race tech inspection, moving everyone one up one spot and Pauch taking his first Bridgeport Motorsports Park win. Watt finished fifth followed by Tommy Beamer, Alex Yankowski in the Rio R10, Godown, Sammy Martz, Jr., and Neal Williams.

The F&L Doors Modified heats were won by Stangle, Watt and Pauch by inches over Buffalino. Joseph Watson won the consolation with a new Blue Hen No. 30.

Rick Stief led the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature sponsored by Bob Hilbert Sportswear through lap twenty-three but Rory Janney had closed in on the leader and was positioned to challenge as the lead cars navigated their way through lapped traffic. Janney grabbed the lead on lap twenty-four as CJ Faison was quickly closing in on the leader. Faison completed the pass by Stief and had Janney in his cross-hairs as the raced through turns three and four but time and racing room were in short supply as Janney raced to the checkered flag.

Faison finished second followed by Stief, Larry McVay and current MASS point leader, Buddy Schweibinz in fifth. Tim Iulg, Bobby DeVault, John Brennfleck, Jeff Paulson and Josh Bricker rounded out the top ten.

Kevin Nagy was sidelined after making contact with the homestretch wall on lap seven. On lap eight the cars of DJ Tanner, Samantha Lieberman and Darren Cox made contact on the homestretch with Tanner rolling violently down the track. All drivers escaped injury but Tanner and Lieberman’s cars had significant damage.

Atmostemp Heating & Cooling Sprint Car heats were won by Larry McVay, Josh Bricker and Kevin Nagy.

Steve Kemery, who has been racing on a limited schedule this season, picked up his first win of 2022 in the Precision Hydraulics & Oil Sportsman feature after taking the lead from Travis Hill on a lap nineteen restart. Wayne Weaver led laps one thorugh six when 2021 Rookie Champion, Ethan Bill raced into the lead. Bill drove to a sizeable lead and led through lap thirteen but as he made his entry into turn one, the cars of Brian Rogers and Thomas Prychka tangled right in front of the leader. Bill took evasive action but was unable to avoid contact, ending his bid for his first Sportsman win.

Hill raced into the lead on the restart as Ryan Godown, Jr., Kemery and Weaver raced three wide. Kemery moved into third and then took the lead on a lap nineteen restart.

Kemery took the win over Hill, Weaver, Tom Sherby and Greg Humlhanz. Godown, Jr. finished sixth followed by Howie Finch, Sean Metz, Brian Papiez and Tom Moore, Jr.

The Hoffman Discount Parts heats were won Ethan Bill, Greg Humlhanz, Tom Moore, Jr. and Wayne Weaver with Swift winning the consolation.

Mike Hughes picked up win number three in the Triple R Truck Parks Street Stock feature. Hughes took the early lead over Jeramy Doerr and 2021 Champion, Tom Wills, Jr. TJ Henry raced into third on lap four and then moved into second four laps later. Hughes had extended his lead to nearly a striaght-away so Henry spent the remaining laps closing the gap on the leader.

Hughes took the win over Henry, Doerr, Wills, Jr. and Lee Allen.

Jeramy Doerr was the winner of the Hessert Chevrolet heat race.

Thomas Prychka picked up his second win in the DA’s Auto Body and Repair Rookie feature, going two for two in wins. Vince Malcom finished a close second followed by Mike Baldwin, Haley Cook and John Larsen.

Bridgeport, NJ – The temperatures felt like August but that was nothing compared to the hot action on the high banks of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Saturday night with racing sponsored by Ice Less.

Defending Bridgeport Champion, Ryan Godown raced to his third point contest of the season but this win came after a battle for the lead with Neal Williams and Sal DeBruno’s No. 0.

Polesitter, Roger Manning led the field to the green and then grabbed the lead for the first nine laps of the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature event. Dominick Buffalino quickly raced into second but was forced to pit for a tire change during a lap seven caution.

A lap seven incident saw the cars of Carson Wright and Joseph Watson getting together between turns one and two and with nowhere to go, Mike Franz rolled his No. 2. Watson and Franz were headed to the pits, their race ended with nine complete.

Williams grabbed the lead on the restart and led Godown, Billy Pauch Jr., Manning and Tommy Beamer. Pauch grabbed the runner-up spot on the next lap.

The yellow waved again as Ron Roberts and Matt Stangle got together on the backstretch, collecting Ryan Watt. Watt continued but without most of the right side bodywork on the No. 14w.

Williams led the way to the crossed flags ahead of Godown, Pauch, Manning and Watt.

Godown had the lead on lap sixteen with Williams and Pauch battling for second. Pauch took the spot but Williams came right back. Pauch had the runner-up position when lap twenty was scored.

Godown led the rest of the way to take the win over Pauch and Williams. Beamer had a strong outing in the Thornton No. 31 to finish fourth with Buffalino rebounding from his early race issue to finish fifth. Richie Pratt Jr. finished sixth followed by Ryan Krachun, Matt Stangle, Manning and Sam Martz Sr.

F&L Door heat races were won by Godown, Roberts and Watt with Clay Butler winning the consolation.

Bryan Brobst, in just his second full season of competition, picked up the win in the Precision Hydraulic & Oil 602 Sportsman feature event. Brian Papiez held the lead over Brobst and Matt Ellery with seventeen laps scored when the race leader was involved with a spun car under the caution. Papiez sustained significant front end damage and was sidelined for the remaining laps.

Brobst took the win over current point leader, Ryan Godown, Jr;, Ellery, Sammy Martz, Jr. and Greg Reed. Travis Hill finished sixth in the Cogdill No. 98 followed by Howie Finch, Stephen Yankowski, David Jenkins and Nick DeSantis.

It was a very popular outcome in the Bridgeport Motorsports Park Street Stocks as Nick Sandone raced to the first win of his career, beating Lee Allen to the stripe to grab the checkered flag.

Hoffman Speed Supplies heat races were won by Wayne Weaver, Travis Hill, Matt Ellery and Ryan Godown, Jr. with Nick DeSantis picking up the win in the B Main.

Nick Sandone brought a legion of fans along with him when he started this journey with the Bridgeport Street Stocks and they have been there to support their driver each and every week. In addition to preparing the car for Saturday night competition after the mid-week event, Sandone was also faced with a medical situation. None of that came to mind as Sandone celebrated in Weaknecht Archery Victory Lane on Saturday with all of his friends, family and crew.

After leading every lap of the Ice Less sponsored feature, Sandone was able to fend off the challenges of Lee Allen to take the win. Mike Hughes finished third followed by Jeff Dirkes and Ken Moren. Sandone acknowledged the Street Stock division as a close knit group who offered their help and assistance to him in whatever way it was needed.

Tim Jones picked up the win in the fifteen lap Cassidy Painting 4 Cylinder Feature event for his first Bridgeport victory. in what was a very competitive race for this division. Chris Carroll finished second followed by Justin Dunn, Joe Garey, Jr. and Jonathan Pitcher.

Pitcher took the win in the Scrappy’s Auto Service qualifier.

Thomas Prychka was the winner of the first DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookie feature by leading just one lap – the most important lap – the final one. Vince Malcolm led the first six laps but a flat tire and contact with the back stretch wall on the final circuit took him out of contention. Second generation driver, Dan Hulmes finished second followed by Malcolm, Mike Baldwin and Deana Cogdill. This is a very promising group of Rookies for the class of 2022.

The Bridgeport Motorsports Park will be the scene of the Monster Truck Throwdown this coming weekend. Shows are scheduled for 7pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are available online. Racing action returns to the Spirit Auto Center quarter mile and the high banks of the Bridgeport Speedway the following weekend.

Bridgeport, NJ – The NOS Energy World of Outlaws sprint cars invaded the Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Tuesday eveningand thrilled the Standing Room Only crowd who poured into the grandstands for hours before the show’s start time. 
The win came down to the wire in a wheel-to-wheel battle between second generation driver, Sheldon Haudenschild and 2021 NASCAR Champion, Kyle Larson while drivers Donny Schatz, 2021 race winner, Logan Schuchart, hard charger, Anthony Macri, rookie James McFadden and crowd favorite, Rico Abreu battled for position behind the leaders.   
Haudenschild praised the track crew for “bringing the track back to life for the feature.”  The race winner had to race his way into the lead on three separate occasions.  “I didn’t expect the track to be that good,” Haudenschild stated.  “Larson ran the middle and I just had to move up a lane,” the   race winner said about his battle for the win.
In addition to the Outlaws vs the PA Posse, fans were thrilled to have drivers like Larson and fellow NASCAR competitors, Christopher Bell and Alex Bowman in the field.  Car owner, Kasey Kahne joined his driver and three-time Outlaw Champion, Brad Sweet on the track.  USAC EC Wingless drivers, Briggs Daner and Alex Bright also competed with Danner locking into the main event in his first ever Outlaw appearance and with just a handful of winged events under his belt.
The weather was great and the field of thirty-three left nothing on the table when the checkered flag waved.  The WoO officials ranked this race as of their top five events.  It was great racing among great drivers that left no room for disappointment among the fans. 
Polesitter, Schatz could not deflect Haudenschild’s first lap challenge as the NOS Energy driver raced into the lead on lap one after a side-by-side trip down the backstretch.   Haudenschild put some distance on the field as Schatz continued in second followed by Larson,  Abreu and Schuchart. 
Larson moved into second before ten laps were scored and began to close in on the leader as they raced through lapped traffic.  
Haudenschild took the crossed flags over Larson and Schatz with Schuchart moving up to fourth wtih a pass by Abreu. 
Haudenschild faced his first challenge on lap sixteen as Larson closed in and challenged for the lead.  Larson held the advantage as they crossed the stripe on lap sixteen.   Haudenschild was back in control on laps seventeen through nineteen but Larson came back to lead with five to go.  Larson had the lead in the Paul Silva wrenched No. 57 with five to go and then the caution waved on the next circuit when KaseyKahne slowed with a right rear tire.   
Four laps remained as the field lined up nose to tail for the final time.  The green flag waved and Larson ran down the hill from turn four banking, leading Haudenschild to the restart as Schuchart took third over Schatz and Macri broke into the top five from his fourteenth place start.
Larson led laps twenty-one and twenty-two but Haudenschild was back in front on lap twenty-three and led the way to the checkered.  Schatz raced back into third and then challenged Larson for second. 
Haudenschild took the $10,000 payday – his third WoO win this season.  Larson bested Schatz for second.  Schuchart and Macri completed the top five.  McFadden continued to help his cause with a sixth place run to add to his rookie season.  Abreu finished seventh with Jacob Allen, Spencer Bayston and David Gravel completing the top ten.  
Haudenschild had high praise for his race team and the preparation of the No. 17 for this race.  Larson took the responsibility for not making it to the winner’s circle.  “I just didn’t do a good job,” Larson commented.  He was probably alone in that opinion.
Schuchart, the winner of the 2021 Bridgeport event, was making his way forward. and was actually hurt by the caution.  “I didn’t need the caution,” Schuchart explained.  “The tires sealed over under the caution,” ending Schuchart’s bid to improve his finish.
Haudenschild set quick time in pre-race time trials.  Macri was the race’s Hard Charger racing from fourteenth to fifth at the checkered flag.
The Bridgeport Motorsports Park Street Stocks made their first mid-week appearance.  TJ Henry took the win after leading every one of the fifteen laps of the main event.  Rob Ormsbee debuted a new red, white and blue No. 19 and raced his way into second late in the race.  After giving Henry a run for his money earlier, current Street Stock point leader, Mike Hughes finished third.

Bridgeport, NJ – The pits were full of invaders but when the checkered flag waved at the end of the King of the Big Blocks Super DIRTcar season opener sponsored by Liberty Kenworth of South Jersey, it was the defending Bridgeport Champion, Ryan Godown who wore the crown. With names like Friesen, Shepperd, Williamson, McLaughlin and Britten, the Bridgeport regulars made their fans proud.

Godown followed the Super DIRTcar Series for the 2019 season. A lot of miles and a lot of races but Godown got to the end of the season without a win in series events. He returned to his regular tracks the next season with a wealth of knowledge, experience and determination. In 2021, that knowledge, experience and determination had a name – R&M Motorsports as Godown and those closest to the driver -crew, family and sponsors, came together to form their own team. Godown promised his team – “I told my guys that no one would beat my heart – I don’t give up!”

That promise was clearly illustrated late in the seventy-five lap Super DIRTcar main event. First, Billy Pauch, Jr. took his shot at the leader. In the final laps. it was former DIRTcar Champion and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, Stewart Friesen who took on the leader. Godown protected his position and raced to the checkered flag as the winner!

“Surreal” was how Godown described the win and his first Super DIRTcar Series victory.

Alex Yankowski drew the pole for the start with Dominick Buffalino to his outside. Yankowski raced out in front leading the first eleven laps before Godown succeeded to completing his pass for the lead. Yankowski continued in the runner-up spot until Billy Pauch, Jr. took the position on lap twenty-one after a three car race for position that also included Ryan Krachun. At this point of the race, the top five was dominated by Bridgeport regulars – Godown, Pauch, Yankowski, Krachun and Buffalino.

Yankowski’s efforts came to an end with a lot of steam with twenty-three laps on the books. A faulty hose clamp was the issue that ended his race prematurely.

With twenty-five laps scored, Mark Johnson joined the Bridgeport top four as he raced in fifth behind Buffalino. Mechanical issues sideline Matt Shepperd at this point in the race. Max McLaughlin broke into the top five on the restart.

Lapped traffic allowed Pauch to close in on the race leader but he wasn’t able to challenge for the lead until just before lap sixty. After several slide jobs that fell short of their mark, Pauch had to switch to defense from offense when Friesen caught the leaders and pressured Pauch for the position.

Friesen took over second for the final ten laps and set his sights on the leader. For the final two laps, Friesen threw everything he had at Godown but the defending Bridgeport Champion prevailed. Godown moved his line to block the threat of a slide job on the final lap and drove to the checkered flag. Friesen was second followed by Pauch, Matt Williamson and McLaughlin. Krachun finished sixth followed by Peter Britten, Mike Gular, Billy Decker and Jimmy Phelps. Four time Big Block Modified Champion, Ryan Watt finished twelfth while Sam Martz finished fifteenth.

While the Bridgeport regulars may have had home track advantage, they were at a disadvantage running Hoosier tires which are the tires run on the Super DIRTcar Series. Godown, Pauch, Jr. and Martz practiced on Saturday night – an off night for the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds.

The F&L Doors sponsored heat races for the Modifieds were won by Godown, Friesen and Krachun while Phelps won the Last Chance Race.

Godown set fast time in the first group of cars on the track at 16.205 seconds. That time stood until the third group of cars when Krachun’s mark of 16.170 displace Godown from the top of the list but the fast time of the night went to Max McLaughlin in the final group of cars. McLaughlin’s time of 16.092 was the fastest of the night but fell short of the record set by Peter Britten in 2020 with a time of 15.970.

The Speedway Entertainment All Pro SpeedSTRS were part of the double header show. Steve Buckwalter was the winner of their twenty-five lap main event sponsored by Glick Fire Equipment.

Louden Reimert jumped into the early lead. As the polesitter, Reimert had lane choice and chose to start the race from the outside. Reimert led the first six laps but it was all Steve Buckwalter on lap seven and all the way to the checkered.

Buckwalter set a blistering pace as he led Billy Pauch, Sr., Reimert, Alex Bright and Cole Stangle to the checkered flag. It was Stangle’s first ever race in the All Pro SpeedSTRS but the young driver adapted quickly and raced three and four wide for position. Rich Tobias finished sixth followed by Ryan Krachun, Jason Musser, Jack Helget and Steve Struele.

Bridgeport, NJ – Briggs Danner, Dave Brown, Brandon Shipley and Lee Allen raced to victory in Saturday night action at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park sponsored by JPA Masonry.

For the fifth time this season and the second time on Bridgeport’s high banks, Briggs Danner drove the Heffner Racing Enterprises No. 5G to victory in the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint twenty-five lap feature event.

Alex Bright and Danner started side by side in row three at the start as polesitter, David Swanson led the field through the first two laps. Joey Amantea raced into second on lap two and then drove the Brian Zyck wrenched JPA Masonry No. 88J into the lead on lap three. Amantea led Danner, Kenny Miller III, Bright and Billy Pauch, Jr. in the Hogue No. 39 through lap five.

Danner went to the inside in turns three and four to grab the lead before switching to the outside as the leaders raced down the homestretch.

By halfway, Danner had caught the back of the field as Bright bested Miller for the runner-up spot. Billy Ney brought out the caution with ten to go, tightening the field for the restart. Danner commanded the lead as Pauch drove up to the third when the green flag waved.

The red flag was needed with just three laps to go as Preston Lattomous rode out a rough one in turn four and then Brentt Shearer and Brian Spencer got together going in to turn one, with Spencer going up and over. All drivers escaped injury.

The excitement built for the final restart. Who had the tires for the finish? Did those right rears seal over under the red? Danner answered all those questions when the green flag waved and he pulled away from his challengers. Pauch dove to the bottom of the track and stole second from Bright but Bright recovered to regain the position.

Danner took the win over Bright, Pauch, Amantea and Kyle Spence who has just returned to competition this weekend. Late race moves saw three time USAC EC Champion, Steve Drevicki finish sixth followed by Miller, Ed Aiken, Chris Allen, Jr. and Colin White.

The Delaware Auto Exchange Mid Atlantic Sprint Series celebrated the fifth anniversary of their first race as MASS five years ago. Rick Steif was the winner five years ago but it was Dave Brown who grabbed the checkered on Saturday night.

Brown had the longest drive in the heat race and then the shortest run to the front in the feature event. Brown drew the next to the last spot in the third heat – a race that he won with a last lap pass for the lead. Brown then drew the pole for the feature event, taking the lead at the wave of the green and racing out in front all the way to the checkered flag. The twenty-five laps were run without a single caution and were completed in 6:33.873.

John Brennfleck chased Brown from the start to the finish. The leaders caught the back of the field on the seventh lap. Brown skillfully raced through the traffic that allowed Brennfleck to close in on the leader as the laps counted down. Rory Janney raced in third after taking the spot from CJ Faison in the early laps.

Buddy Schweibinz was making great strides as he raced from his fourteenth place start. Scheweibinz and defending MASS Champion, Kevin Nagy raced for position seven for several laps, trading the position back and forth. Scheweibinz won the spot and then raced on, taking spots from Larry, McVay and Bob DeVault. In the final laps, Schweibinz raced by Faison to finish fourth.

Brown took the win over Brennfleck, Janney, Schweibinz and Faison. DeVault finished sixth followed by McVay, Nagy, Aiden Borden and rookie, DJ Tanner.

Borden picked up few extra dollars when he had the fastest lap in the pre-race warm-ups.

Brandon Shipley raced to his first win in the Precision Hydrualics & Oil 602 Sportsman feature, leading every lap and racing ahead of two time winner and current point leader, Ryan Godown, Jr.

Shipley, from Hamilton Township, NJ is in only his second hear of Sportsman competition after competing as a rookie a year ago. Numerous cautions kept the field tight but Shipley hit his marks and raced to the win over Godown, Jr., Tom Moore, Stephen Yankowski and Wayne Weaver.

Moore raced in second until lap eighteen when Godown took over the spot.

A fourth place finish for Yankowski was his best finish to date. The older brother of Alex Yankowski, Stephen returned to race a few times last season after being away from the sport for nearly ten years. He has become a regular at Bridgeport and promises to be a contender in this 2022 season.

Matt Ellery finished sixth followed by Ethan Bill who rebounded from an early race spin. Bill was challenging for the lead when he hit a wet spot on the track. Last week’s feature winner, Brian Papiez finished eighth followed by Sammy Martz, Jr. and Howie Finch.

Lee Allen raced to his third win of the season in the Rent Equip Party Central Street Stock feature. Nick Sandone led the first two laps of the fifteen lap distance with Allen taking the lead on lap three as the two drivers raced down the backstretch.

Positions behind the leader were changing throughout the distance. Mike Creamer trailed Allen to the checkered for checkered followed by Jeramy Doerr, Sandone and Mike Hughes.

Allen felt that they had the No. 98B back to where they started the season out with a pair of wins.

Action returns to the Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Tuesday as the stars of the Super DIRTcar Series take on the drivers of the Tri-State area in the King of the Big Blocks. Tim Fuller won last year’s event that was won by Stewart Friesen in 2020. Both drivers are expected to be in Tuesday night’s field along with Ryan Godown, Billy Pauch, Jr., Dominick Buffalino and Ryan Watt who is a past winner of this event.
