SWEDESBORO, NJ — Championship celebrations and a first-time winner of the season highlighted another action-packed Saturday night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, as Ryan Godown and Jonathan Swanson were officially crowned 2026 champions, while Coleby Frye stormed to his first Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified victory of the season.

Godown wrapped up the 2026 Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified Championship, adding another title to an already impressive Bridgeport résumé. The championship marks Godown’s third Bridgeport Motorsports Park title.

Jonathan Swanson also had reason to celebrate as he clinched the 2026 Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Championship, completing a championship campaign in one of Bridgeport’s most competitive divisions.

While Godown and Swanson have secured their places atop the 2026 standings, the championship battles aren’t finished yet. The remaining Saturday night division championships will be decided during next week’s program, setting the stage for another big night at the Kingdom of Speed.

Coleby Frye saved one of his best performances of the season for championship night.

Frye, who had the best three point average going into Saturday was relegated to the eleventh place starting position for the feature event. That proved to be no problem. Frye navigated his way towards the front of the 30-lap Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature before taking the lead away from newly crowned champion Ryan Godown.

Getting to the front turned out to be half the battle. Brian Papiez raced past Godown for second and immediately set his sights on Frye. A late race caution set up an epic dual between Frye and Papiez. Frye chose the outside, leaving the lane wide open for a Papiez slider past the F1 of Frye. Frye fought back to the lead only to have another thrown at him in turn 3. Papiez again could not retain the number one position, while throwing another at Frye in turn one. This time Frye was able to pull enough in front to hold off the number 37 bombs. Frye held his ground and raced under the checkered flag for his first Bridgeport Modified victory of the 2026 season.

Papiez turned in his strongest performance of the year, earning a season-best runner-up finish for the Adams No. 37 team. Godown capped off his championship night with a third-place finish, while Dillon Steuer turned in one of the drives of the night.

Steuer was caught up in an early-race incident and was forced to pit for a tire change. Sent to the rear of the field, Steuer charged all the way back through the pack to finish an impressive fourth. Sammy Martz Jr. also came from the rear and completed the top five.

Dominick Buffalino finished sixth aboard the Big Spring Car Wash No. 126, followed by Mike Franz, Billy Osmun III, Matt Peck and Anthony Tramontana to complete the top ten.

Smith wins the Battle, Swanson wins the war! The Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints produced another strong performance from Nathan Smith, who raced to his third A-Main victory of the season.

Stan Ploski III led most of the 20 lap Wingless sprint Car feature only to get caught up with a lapped car, sending the number 27 into the fence. Smith would take over the top spot and led newly crowned 2026 champion Jonathan Swanson to the checkered flag, with Swanson finishing second on the night while celebrating the bigger prize,  the season championship.

Wayne Scott crossed the line third, followed by Rich Mellor and Shea Wills to round out the top five.

Matt Peck pulls double duty and takes home the win after finishing ninth in the Modified feature, Matt Peck wasn’t finished yet. Peck climbed behind the wheel for the Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman feature and charged from his eighth-place starting position to capture his second Sportsman victory of the 2026 season aboard the Danny Sommerling-owned No. 51.

Peck raced to the checkered flag ahead of Ryan Simmons (started twelfth), while Matt Ellery, Jimmy Wyers and Jordan Henn completed the top five. Tim Borror finished sixth, followed by Billy Chester, who was behind the wheel of the Rogers No. 191. Duncan Molesworth, Wayne Weaver and Ethan Young completed the top ten.

Hunter Ploski back to victory lane capturing the victory in the second Sportsman feature of the evening.  Ploski took the win over Ethan Bill, with Aiden Spencer, Brian Rogers and George Gareis completing the top five.

Jimmy Wills was the man to beat in the 15-lap Modified Lite feature, racing to the victory over Friday night winner Tim White. Toby Davis finished third, followed by Josh Clark and Brayden Benson to complete the top five.

With Ryan Godown and Jonathan Swanson officially crowned 2026 champions, the championship spotlight now turns to Bridgeport’s remaining divisions Sportsman Modified’s, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinder Stock Cars. Their titles will be decided next Saturday night, when another season of racing at the Kingdom of Speed moves one step closer to its dramatic conclusion.

SWEDESBORO, NJ — The time has come. A season’s worth of racing, battling, passing and chasing points comes down to Championship Night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park!

This Saturday night, the Kingdom of Speed will crown its 2026 champions in the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds and Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Cars, and while one championship leader has some breathing room, the battles behind him are anything but settled.

Ryan Godown enters Championship Night with a comfortable advantage atop the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified standings, putting him in prime position to claim the 2026 championship.

But behind Godown, it’s a dogfight! Just 25 points separate second through fifth, and every position, every pass and every lap could make the difference.

Dillon Steuer and Ryan Krachun are tied for second, while Neal Williams sits just 16 points behind the pair. And don’t count out Dominic Buffalino, who enters the night only 25 points out of second.

Four drivers. Twenty-five points. And one final points race to settle it! There will be no cruising around the High Banks Saturday night. With championship positions and bragging rights on the line, expect the elbows to be up from the drop of the green flag!

The Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Cars will also crown their 2026 champion Saturday night.

Jonathon Swanson enters the finale holding a 28-point advantage over Wayne Scott, while Stan Ploski III sits another 18 points behind Scott in third.

One night remains. One championship trophy awaits. On the High Banks, nothing is guaranteed until the final checkered flag falls!

The Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman Modifieds battle is heating up with their championship finale coming one week later.

Jesse Hirthler has controlled the top spot for much of the season and currently holds a comfortable advantage in the championship standings.

But just like the Modifieds, the fight behind the leader is incredibly tight! PJ Bozowski and Matt Ellery are currently tied for second, with Ellery holding the tiebreaker thanks to his two feature victories this season. Matt Peck remains within striking distance, just 41 points back in fourth.

With another full night of points racing before their September 19 championship showdown, there is still plenty that can change!

Also joining the Championship Night program will be the Mod Lites, adding another division of wheel-to-wheel action to a huge night at the Kingdom of Speed.

The championship battles may be reaching their conclusion, but Bridgeport’s 2026 season is far from finished. On Saturday, September 19, the USAC Wingless Sprint Cars return to the High Banks, joining Championship Night for the Sportsman Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinder Stock Cars.

Then circle September 25 & 26 on the calendar! Bridgeport kicks off its end-of-the-year special-event schedule with the Danny Serrano Weekend, featuring the Modifieds going 60 LAPS for $7,000 TO WIN, while the Sportsman battle for 35 LAPS and $2,000 TO WIN!

The Danny Serrano Weekend will also mark the final race of 2026 for the Modifieds at Bridgeport Motorsports Park. But first, there are championships to decide. One final points night.

SWEDESBORO, NJ — When the laps get longer and the pressure gets higher, Mikey Smith knows how to rise to the occasion.

Earlier this season, Smith captured the prestigious Joe Kay Memorial. On Saturday night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, he added another major victory to his résumé — and this one came in spectacular fashion.

With the white flag waving and longtime leader Eddie Wagner just ahead, Smith made his move. He charged to the inside, wrestled away the top spot and won the drag race out of turn four to capture the 50-lap Ron Faison Memorial 305 Sprint Car Nationals and its $4,000 payday!

It was a thrilling conclusion to a huge weekend of racing on the High Banks.

Joining Smith in Victory Lane were Billy Osmun III, who collected his third Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified victory of the season; Charley Cossaboone, who scored an emotional first career Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman win; John Scarpati, winner of the Sportsman Non-Qualifiers event; Richie Page, who raced to his fourth Straight Up Construction Street Stock victory; and Jim Backowski, who picked up his first Insta Sign Plus Four Cylinder triumph.

Eddie Wagner and Cody West led the field to the green for the 50-lap Ron Faison Memorial, with Wagner immediately taking command.

Wagner paced West, George Loux, Johnny Smith and Tim Iulg in the opening laps, but it didn’t take long for the Smith brothers to make their presence known. Johnny and Mikey Smith worked their way forward, moving into second and third while West dropped to fourth and Shelby Kelly advanced to fifth.

Following the halfway fuel stop, Wagner remained in command with West, Johnny Smith, Mikey Smith and Kelly giving chase. But as the laps began to wind down, the intensity picked up. The Smith brothers went to battle for second, with Mikey eventually securing the position. Once clear, there was only one car left in his sights, Wagner.

Wagner had controlled the race from the opening green, but his race car began to get tight during the closing laps. Smith continued to close, then came the white flag.

One lap, One final opportunity, Smith dove to the inside of Wagner and challenged for the lead. The two raced toward the finish, and as they powered out of turn four toward the checkered flag, it was Mikey Smith surging ahead to steal the victory on the final circuit!

Wagner settled for a hard-fought second with Johnny Smith third. Rick Lafferty finished fourth with Dave Brown completing the top five. West, Loux, Kelly, Cole Dewease and Chris Dolan rounded out the top ten.

For Smith, the dramatic victory was worth $4,000 and another major memorial race trophy in what has already been an impressive season.

Osmun holds off Krachun in one lap shoot out. Billy Osmun III took command immediately of the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature.

Osmun led Neal Williams, Brian Papiez, Stan Frankenfield Jr. and Coleby Frye during the early going, while Ryan Krachun began charging toward from his eleventh place starting position.

Krachun worked past Frye and Frankenfield to reach fourth before disposing of Papiez for third. He then went after Williams for the runner-up position as Osmun continued to show the way, but drama began to appear as the 81-machine started showing smoke with only four laps remaining.

Just when it appeared Osmun might have things under control, the caution flew with one lap remaining, setting the stage for a one-lap dash to the checkered.

Osmun was up to the challenge but was his race car. Osmun would win the sprint to the finish over Krachun to secure his third Modified victory of the season. Osmun would state in victory lane, the smoke appears to be a fitting that came loose during the race.

Osmun took the checkered over Krachun, Williams, H.J. Bunting and Papiez. Dominick Buffalino was battling among the leaders before spinning while coming to the checkered.

Davey Sammons finished sixth followed by Frye, Frankenfield, Dillon Steuer and Modified point leader Ryan Godown.

A vicious accident occurred during heat race competition when it appeared Godown’s throttle stuck sending him straight into the turn two wall. Godown miraculously appeared from the wreckage, took the mandatory trip to the pit side care center. After being released, hopped in the back up car and started the feature from last. Godown would navigate his way to an impressive 10^th place finish.

There are few moments in racing better than a driver earning that first trip to Victory Lane, and Saturday night belonged to Charley Cossaboone in the Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman.

Rookie Tyler Lilick led the field to green and set the pace over Walter MacIntyre, Cossaboone, Mike Hughes Jr. and Kris Lilick.

Tyler Lilick remained out front through lap 18 before becoming involved in an incident in turn four, handing the lead to MacIntyre for the restart.

Cossaboone saw his opportunity and took it. With five laps remaining, Cossaboone powered past MacIntyre for the lead and never looked back, racing to his first career Sportsman feature victory!

Steve Kemery (started 8^th) and Ryan Simmons (started 11^th) also worked past MacIntyre during the closing laps to finish second and third. MacIntyre crossed the line fourth with Ronnie Solomon III (started 13^th) completing the top five. Kris Lilick, Adam White, P.J. Bozowski, Billy Chester and Matt Peck rounded out the top ten.

Scarpati Family goes 1 – 2 in second Sportsman Feature. John Scarpati made it a family affair in the 15-lap Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman second feature event.

Scarpati raced to the victory with his daughter, Melissa Scarpati, crossing the line directly behind him in second.

Tim Borror finished third with Drew Ziegler fourth and Sarah Lynn completing the top five.

Richie Page wasted little time making his intentions known in the Straight Up Construction Street Stock feature. Gary Bozowski grabbed the lead at the drop of the green, but Page was already up to second by the completion of lap two.

Two laps later, Page made his move. Page swept past Bozowski for the lead on lap four and checked out from the field, racing to his fourth A-Main victory of the season.

Bozowski finished second with Nick Sandone III third, Mike Walsh fourth and Scott Freed fifth. Spider Ensinger Jr., Mike Baldwin, Gary Klimeczak, Spider Ensinger Sr. and Shane Grosso completed the top ten.

Jim Backowski grabbed the early advantage in the Insta Sign Plus Four Cylinder feature, but there would be no cruising to the checkered flag. Joe Garey Sr. and Joe Garey Jr. were right there on Backowski’s back bumper as the trio raced toward the finish.

Backowski held his ground under heavy pressure and crossed the line first to earn his first Insta Sign Plus Four Cylinder victory! Joe Garey Sr. finished second with Joe Garey Jr. third. Robbie Steinmetz crossed the line fourth with Patrick McKnight rounding out the top five.

From Mikey Smith’s electrifying final-lap pass in the Ron Faison Memorial to Cossaboone’s first career victory, another action-packed Saturday night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park delivered exactly what race fans have come to expect from the Kingdom of Speed. Side-by-side battles, late-race drama and checkered flags that had to be earned!

Next up, Championship night for the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified’s and the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint Cars Saturday September 12^th. After Championship night there is only one more Modified event left at the Kingdom of Speed, the Danny Serrano Weekend, September 25 and 26.

SWEDESBORO, NJ — It’s been an incredible 2026 season at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, and one thing has become crystal clear, if you’ve got your hot rod right, you can GO TO THE FRONT!

Week after week, the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds and Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman have put on tremendous racing, with multiple grooves throughout Thy Kingdom giving drivers the opportunity to pass, charge, and march their way through the field.

Last week was another perfect example of Pass’n & Gas’n in the Kingdom. In a non-stop 30-lap Modified feature, Ryan Krachun charged from 14th to 7th, while invader Danny Bouc blasted from 12th to 5th. With no cautions to bunch up the field, both drivers had to earn every position the hard way. We can only imagine where they might have ended up with a couple of restarts!

Then came the Sportsman, where PJ Bozowski stormed from 22nd to 5th, while winner Jesse Hirthler charged from 10th to Victory Lane!

It hasn’t been just one night. All season long, Modified point leader Ryan Godown has routinely started 11th or 12th and still finished inside the top three 70% of the time. Last week showed just how competitive the High Banks can be. While Krachun and Bouc were charging forward, Godown’s car was just a little off on the tight side and even the point leader couldn’t make his usual march toward the front.

That’s racing at Bridgeport. Multiple grooves. Plenty of passing and if your car is right, the front is there for the taking!

Now the championship battles are coming down to crunch time, with just two Modified point races and three Sportsman point races remaining you won’t want to miss any of the action.

This weekend, September 4 & 5 we’ll see everyone for the Sprint Car Nationals Ron Faison Memorial! The Sprint Cars will tackle the High Banks for 50 mouth dropping laps, while the Modifieds will rumble for 30 laps. It’s time to PASS ’N GAS at the Kingdom of Speed!

SWEDESBORO, NJ — The atmosphere was rock’in in the Kingdom Saturday night as the  past and present came together in spectacular fashion at Bridgeport Motorsports Park with a tremendous crowd filling the facility for Jim Gallagher Sr Tribute & Flemington Speedway Night, and when the racing was complete, Cale Ross stood atop the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified field with his first High Banks victory of the season.

It was a special night celebrating the history of one of the Northeast’s most legendary racing facilities along with a wonderful competitor Jim Gallagher Sr.. An outstanding turnout of former Flemington Speedway drivers and vintage race cars transformed the Bridgeport midway into a walk through racing history.

Prior to the night’s racing action, fans packed the midway for an autograph session featuring racers from yesteryear, while numerous cars that once competed at the famed Flemington Fairgrounds were on display. Stories were shared, memories were rekindled and generations of race fans came together to celebrate the unforgettable history of “The Square.”

Then it was time for the stars of today to take over the High Banks. Cale Ross dominated the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature, scoring his first Bridgeport victory of the season and collecting the Jim Gallagher Sr $3131 prize money presented by Elite Welder Training & Testing. Current Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman point leader Jesse Hirthler charged through the field for his third victory of the season, while Ronnie Solomon III captured the Sportsman second feature event.

Wayne Scott went wire-to-wire in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint A-Main, Dan Mull collected his third Four Cylinder victory of the season, and Scott Schaeffer and Myron Haydt were winners in the Vintage Stock exhibitions.

Ross leaves no doubt in Modified, Jim Gallagher Sr. Tribute victory. At the drop of the green, Ross shot into the lead and immediately began separating himself from the field. Anthony Tramontana held second during the opening circuits before Coleby Frye completed the pass for the runner-up position.

By halfway, Ross was in complete control, continuing to stretch his advantage over Frye, Davey Sammons, Luke Bunting and Danny Bouc who came from the twelfth starting position.

There would be no catching Ross as he navigated through lapped traffic. The top five remained unchanged to the checkered flag as Ross powered to a convincing victory over Frye, Sammons, Bunting and Bouc. Dillon Steuer, Ryan Krachun from 18th, Dominick Buffalino from 12th, Ryan Godown and Tramontana completed the top ten.

The finish marked season-best performances for both Ross and Sammons. A multiple-feature winner and Modified championship contender one year ago, Ross has repeatedly found himself battling circumstances outside of his control this season. The loss of both a motor and frame early in the year created major setbacks, but Ross and his team continued to fight.

“We’ve got the speed, we had the fastest times of the night in the feature and heat race last week,” Ross explained. “Then we got tangled up last week racing for the lead. We made it back to finish 10th, but we were low on points for handicapping.”

This time, Ross was able to take full advantage of the opportunity. “Starting on the pole definitely helped,” Ross added. “Clean air is so important here, and we were able to keep up with the changes in the track.”

After having to fight his way from the rear of the field one week earlier, Ross knew just how valuable track position could be on the High Banks. On Flemington Speedway Night, he had the position, the speed and the race car to capitalize and nobody had anything for him.

Hirthler charges through the field from 10^th starting spot for win number three collecting the $1000 payday presented by Elite Welder Training & Testing. Walter MacIntyre and Pete Serra brought the Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman field to the green, with Serra taking command on the opening lap. Wayne Weaver moved into second ahead of MacIntyre while Duncan Molesworth and Matt Peck battled inside the top five.

Meanwhile, championship leader Jesse Hirthler was coming through the field. By lap ten, Hirthler had worked his way into the top five and continued methodically picking off positions. He passed Peck, Molesworth and Weaver to move into second before setting his sights on Serra.

As the race reached halfway, Hirthler completed the pass for the lead and never looked back. The final caution came on lap 23, giving the field one last opportunity. Weaver moved past Serra for second on the restart, but Hirthler remained out front to secure his third victory of the season and continue his impressive championship campaign.

Weaver finished second followed by Serra, Ryan Simmons (from 12^th) and an impressive P.J. Bozowski, who charged all the way from 22nd starting position to finish fifth. Molesworth, Peck, Steve Kemery, Matt Ellery and Christopher Buffalino rounded out the top ten.

For Hirthler, patience has become one of the biggest weapons in his arsenal. “That’s something I’ve learned from my dad and uncle,” Hirthler explained. “You want to run all the laps and finish every week. If you bend the car, then you have to spend your time during the week making repairs instead of looking for speed or trying to make the car better.”

That patience was on full display as Hirthler methodically carved his way through the field and once again found himself in Victory Lane.

There was no catching Ronnie Solomon III in the 15-lap Sportsman second feature event.

Solomon grabbed the lead and never surrendered it, leading all 15 circuits on his way to victory. Ryan Higgs finished second followed by Bryan Rhoads, Melissa Scarpati and Dylan Morris.

Wayne Scott was equally dominant in the 20-lap Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint A-Main, leading every circuit of the non-stop feature event.

Behind Scott, Nathan Smith made a late-race move around David Swanson to claim second. Swanson finished third followed by Jonathan Swanson and Stan Ploski III.

Lee Allen jumped to the early lead in Four Cylinder competition and paced the opening two laps before Dan Mull made his move to the front.

Allen began struggling with a tight race car as Mull took command and drove on to collect his third Four Cylinder victory of the season.

Allen’s night became even more eventful when his car developed a misfire and forced him to the pits. After shutting the car off and restarting it, the problem appeared to correct itself. Allen returned to competition and battled back to an impressive second-place finish.

Joe Garey Sr. crossed the line third, with Logan Mull and Kyle Hurley completing the top five.

Pauch returns to the track as Flemington memories come alive. The Vintage Stocks provided the perfect finishing touch to a memorable Flemington Speedway Night.

Modifieds Battle for $3,131 in Jim Gallagher Sr. Memorial; Huge Flemington Speedway Reunion Highlights Saturday Night

SWEDESBORO, NJ — The memories, the cars and the stars of legendary Flemington Speedway will come roaring back to life this Saturday, August 29, as Bridgeport Motorsports Park hosts a huge night of racing and nostalgia on the high banks!

Presented by Elite Welder Training & Testing, Saturday night’s program will feature Flemington Speedway Night, the $3,131-to-win Jim Gallagher Sr. Memorial for the Modifieds, a huge autograph session, vintage race cars and the highly anticipated return of Billy Pauch Sr. behind the wheel of his famous No. 5!

For longtime race fans, one of the biggest moments of the evening will come when Billy “The Kid” Pauch Sr. returns to the high banks of Bridgeport in his famous and recently restored No. 5 Modified. The combination of Pauch and the No. 5 brings back memories of one of the most recognizable cars and drivers from an unforgettable era of Modified racing.

Bridgeport will turn back the clock Saturday as the speedway celebrates the competitors and history of one of the most legendary tracks in Northeast racing. More than 20 drivers are scheduled to participate in a special autograph session beginning at 6:00 p.m., giving fans the opportunity to meet many of the personalities who helped make Flemington Speedway so special. Adding to the nostalgia, approximately 10 race cars that actually competed at Flemington Speedway will be on display behind the Bridgeport grandstands throughout the evening. For fans who remember Saturday nights at Flemington — and for younger fans who have only heard the stories — this will be a special opportunity to experience a piece of Modified racing history.

While Bridgeport celebrates racing’s past, today’s Modified stars will have plenty to race for. The Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modifieds will battle for $3,131 to win in the Jim Gallagher Sr. Memorial, adding extra money and extra importance to an already critical night in the championship chase. With only THREE point races remaining in the 2026 Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified season, every position and every point becomes increasingly important as the championship battle heads toward its conclusion. Wagner Charges Late for MASS Win; Simmons Breaks Through in Sportsman Competition

SWEDESBORO, NJ — On Saturday night at Bridgeport Motorsports Park, Dominick Buffalino found himself in the right place at the right time when a dramatic late-race incident eliminated several of the front-runners, putting him in command of the 30-lap Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature. From there, Buffalino took care of business, driving Bonita Hyneman 126 to his second Modified victory of the season.

It was a night filled with late-race drama and firsts throughout the program. Eddie Wagner made a late charge to capture the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature, while Ryan Simmons broke through for his first Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman victory of the season. Bryan Rhoads went flag-to-flag in the Sportsman second feature event, Nathan Smith collected his third Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint victory, and Scott Freed earned his second Straight Up Construction Street Stock win of the season.

Buffalino emerges from Modified thriller. Frank Cozze and Cale Ross brought the Modified field to Kevin Golden’s green flag, with Ross immediately taking command over Cozze and Billy Osmun III. The father-and-son combination of H.J. Bunting and Luke Bunting also quickly became factors at the front of the field.

Ross paced the opening six circuits before Osmun made his move, taking over the top spot on lap seven.

Behind the leader, the battle intensified. Luke Bunting moved past Cozze for third while Ryan Godown worked his way into the top five from his twelfth place starting spot. Godown later disposed of Cozze to take fourth as the race continued under a long stretch of green-flag conditions.

With ten laps remaining, Osmun continued to lead Ross, Godown and Luke Bunting, while Buffalino was battling H.J. Bunting for fifth.

Then everything changed. On lap 21, Ross closed in and prepared to make his move for the lead. “I set up to slide him,” Ross explained, “and just misjudged where he would enter.”

Contact between Ross and Osmun triggered a chain reaction. Godown already committed to the top was collected in the tangle as they drifted up  the track, while Luke Bunting was left with nowhere to go.

In a matter of seconds, the complexion of the race was completely transformed as the top four racers were collected leaving just enough room for the 126 of Buffalino to sqeak through.

Osmun and Godown were forced to retire from the event, while Ross and Luke Bunting rejoined the field from the rear.

Buffalino had passed H.J. Bunting just before the caution and suddenly found himself sitting atop the scoring pylon, something even Buffalino didn’t immediately realize.

When racing resumed, Buffalino lined up alongside H.J. Bunting. The green flag was quickly replaced by another caution when Neal Williams suffered a right-rear flat.

On the ensuing restart, Buffalino again fought of the hard challenges of HJ Bunting and took  control of the field, and this time there would be no stopping him.

Buffalino raced to the checkered flag for his second Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified victory of the season, with H.J. Bunting turning in an impressive runner-up finish. Brian Papiez finished third after coming back through the entire field, Ryan Krachun fourth and Dillon Steuer completed a strong recovery from a first-lap flat tire to finish fifth.

Mike Franz, Coleby Frye, Sammy Martz Jr., Matt Ellery and Cale Ross rounded out the top ten.

Wagner strikes late to win mass thriller. Robbie Stillwaggon and Eddie Wagner led the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series field to the green, with Stillwaggon quickly establishing himself as the early leader.

Wagner, Shelby Kelly, Rick Lafferty and D.J. Tanner Jr. filled out the early top five.

A lap-eight caution tightened the field and opened the door for Kelly, who briefly wrestled the lead away from Stillwaggon before Stillwaggon battled back to regain the top spot.

At halfway, Stillwaggon continued to lead Kelly, Lafferty, Wagner and Tanner.

The race took another turn when Lafferty slowed to bring out the caution on lap 17. One lap later, Andrew Turpin stopped in turn two, setting up what would become the final restart of the race and Wagner was ready.

On the restart, Wagner charged past both Kelly and Stillwaggon to take command. Kelly wasn’t finished either, sliding past Stillwaggon on the final lap to secure the runner-up position.

At the checkered flag, it was Eddie Wagner scoring the MASS victory over Kelly, Stillwaggon, Tanner and Cody West.

Troy Betts, Ryan Stillwaggon, Chris Dolan, Ryan Schultz and Tim Iulg completed the top ten.

Walter MacIntyre appeared poised for victory for much of the 25-lap Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman feature, leading the opening 18 circuits. MacIntyre initially led Randy Rommell and later Brayden Morrison, but Ryan Simmons steadily worked his way toward the front.

Simmons climbed into second on lap seven, with Christopher Buffalino, Matt Ellery and Morrison giving chase. After stalking MacIntyre for the lead, Simmons finally completed the winning pass on lap 19. Two laps later, Christopher Buffalino moved past MacIntyre for second, but by then Simmons had established himself at the front.

Simmons raced home to his first Sportsman victory of the season, followed by Christopher Buffalino, P.J. Bozowski, MacIntyre and Ellery. Steve Kemery, Morrison, Charley Coosaboone, Jim Wyers and Matt Peck completed the top ten.

In the 15-lap Demers Heating & Cooling Sportsman second feature event, Bryan Rhoads dominated from start to finish, leading every lap on his way to victory. Scott Hulmes finished second, followed by Chris Bergstrom, Matt Blakeslee and Melissa Scarpati.

David Swanson led the opening circuit of the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint feature, but Nathan Smith wasted little time making his move. Smith took over the lead on lap two and never looked back.

Once out front, Smith was never seriously challenged as he powered to his third Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint victory of the season. David Swanson held on for second, with his brother Jonathan Swanson finishing third. Thomas Radivoy and Shea Wills rounded out the top five.

Freed takes advantage late for second street stock win. Mike Baldwin looked to have the Straight Up Construction Street Stock feature well in hand, leading the opening 13 laps of the 15-lap main event.

But with five circuits remaining, Baldwins car began to show tire smoke as something in the rear of the car appeared to have broke. Baldwin continued to lead the field with the ailing race car, as Spider Ensinger Jr and Jeramy Doerr closed rapidly. Doerr made contact with the Ensinger machine on the front straight causing Ensinger to spin, brining out the caution with only two laps remaining.

During the caution, Baldwin would relinquish the lead and head to the pits with his ailing race car as both Ensinger and Doerr went to the rear of the field.

That opened the door for Scott Freed. Freed inherited the top spot but still had work to do, holding off the late-race challenges of three time winner, Richie Page over the final two laps.

Freed was up to the task, taking the checkered flag for his second Street Stock victory of the season. Page settled for second, followed by Nick Sandone III, Mike Walsh and Spider Ensinger Jr. Darren Cox, Jeramy Doerr, Gary Klimeczak, Shane Grosso and Geoff Handel completed the top ten.

This Saturday night August 29, the Modifieds return for the $3131 to win Jim Gallagher Sr. Memorial along with Flemington Speedway night with over 20 drivers scheduled to attend. There are only three points races left for the Modified’s as the season winds down in Thy Kingdom.

EDDIE WAGNER MAKES LATE RACE ADJUSTMENT PAY OFF AT BRIDGEPORT

(August 22, 2026):  Eddie Wagner of Newfield, NJ returned to victory lane for the first time in over 13 months Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway. Wagner used a lap 18 restart to charge from third to the lead and went on to capture his 10th career victory with the DCB Plumbing and Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capital Renegade. The feature win completed the sweep of the night as Wagner also collected the Next Generation Construction hot lap quick time award and the All-State Auto Glass Heat race win.    

“On that final caution I had just found a black line developing on the high side of the middle groove,” an excited Wagner exclaimed in victory lane, “I knew if I hit it right I would have a great chance to steal second, but when the two leaders both tried to block the low groove, they left the high sided open for me and I was able to get a great run around them!”   

The initial start of the 25 lap main event was halted as two-time winner Adam Carberry slowed to a stop on the frontstretch causing a complete restart. On the second try, Robbie Stillwaggon out-dragged Eddie Wagner into turn one quickly taking command. Fourth starting Shelby Kelly moved into third quickly and began challenging Wagner for the runner-up spot. Kelly took second position on lap 3 and immediately began closing in on the leader as Rick Lafferty moved in to challenge Wagner for third. Lafferty caught Wagner and moved into third before halfway, as Kelly began catching Stillwaggon to challenge for the lead. She pulled even with the leader on several occasions only to see Stillwaggon maintain the lead, as the duo raced toward lapped traffic. Just as they reached the back of the field, third running Lafferty slowed to a stop bringing out the second caution of the event with 8 laps remaining.  

With the green flying Stillwaggon and Kelly raced side by side for the lead, however just one lap later Andrew Turpin would veer hard into the wall, breaking his front end and ending his night. With Turpin removed from the speedway, what would become the final restart of the night unfolded as Kelly dove low for a slider attempt in turn one, and Stillwaggon stayed low to block the attempt.  Wagner drove the car into the corner deep to the outside groove that had recently begun to turn black, and he found what he was looking for. The extra bite propelled him around the leaders, and with the outside lane open he used the momentum to vault into the lead.  

The final five laps saw Wagner pull away to win by 2.5 seconds. Kelly finally got her slider attempt to stick on the final two turns as she grabbed second from Robbie Stillwaggon, as he settled for third. DJ Tanner, who had missed hot laps with motor issues, bounced back to finish fourth and end his night on a high note, and Cody West captured his third top five of the season crossing the line fifth. Troy Betts bounced back from a heat race crash to race from 21st starting position to finish 6th. Ryan Stillwaggon, Chris Dolan, Ryan Schultz and Tim Iulg rounded out the top ten. 

The All-State Auto Glass Heats were won by Eddie Wagner, Rick Lafferty and Ryan Stillwaggon. 

MASS will be back at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, NJ in two weeks for the 2-night Sprint Car Nationals on Friday Sept. 4th and Saturday Sept. 5th. Friday will be the 25 lap Prelude to the Nationals, followed on Saturday by the 50-lap $4000 to win Sprint Car Nationals.  Both nights the Pit gate opens at 4pm, the Grandstands at 5pm, & Warm-ups at 6pm.
