Godown Charges to Second Bridgeport Victory; Hirthler Extends Sportsman Point Lead

SWEDESBORO, NJ – A packed night of on and off the track at Bridgeport Motorsports Park featured thrilling late-race passes, first-time winners, and standout performances across five divisions on a fast-paced night of competition.
Ryan Godown captured his second victory of the season in the non-stop 30-lap Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified feature, while Jesse Hirthler strengthened his championship bid with a victory in the 25-lap Demer’s Heating & Cooling Sportsman main event.
In the D.A. Auto Body & Repair Rookie division, Tom Carpenter became the first repeat winner of the season. The visiting DCB’s Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series produced a first-time series winner as Andrew Turpin led every lap of the 25-lap A-Main. Additional feature winners included Mike Baldwin in the StraightUp Construction Street Stocks and Shea Wills in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints.

Billy Osmun and Richie Pratt, Jr. brought the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified field to green with Osmun quickly taking command. Wade Hendrickson and D.J. Hunt raced into second and third while Brian Papiez moved into the top five early.
Osmun maintained the lead through the opening stages as Hendrickson, Hunt, and Papiez battled behind him. Godown steadily worked his way forward from eleventh starting position, cracking the top five by lap ten before passing Papiez for fourth on lap 19. Two laps later, Godown advanced to third.
With five laps remaining, Osmun still held a sizeable lead, but the battle tightened dramatically as Hendrickson and Godown closed in. Dillon Steuer climbed into fourth while Papiez rounded out the top five. Godown took second from Hendrickson with four laps to go and then powered past Osmun entering turn one with just two laps remaining.
Steuer grabbed second on the final lap while Hendrickson reclaimed third from Osmun at the checkered flag.
Godown scored the victory over Steuer, Hendrickson, Ross in a dramatic nonstop 30 lap Modified Feature. Followed by Osmun, and Dominick Buffalino. Brian Papiez finished sixth followed by Neal Williams, D.J. Hunt, Sammy Martz, Jr., and Cale
Hirthler Extends Point Lead in Sportsman Action with strong run from fourteenth starting position.
Wayne Weaver jumped into the early lead in the Demer’s Heating & Cooling Sportsman feature ahead of Walt McIntyre, Charley Cossaboone, Christopher Buffalino, and Matt Peck. Cossaboone’s strong run ended early following a first-lap incident.
Peck charged to the lead on lap five and appeared headed for victory until misfortune struck on lap 16 when he suffered a right rear flat tire while exiting turns three and four.
Weaver inherited the lead for the restart with Hirthler, Travis Hill, Buffalino, and Steven Kemery lined up behind him. Hirthler, who started 14th, continued his impressive charge through the field and took the lead with four laps remaining. Hill advanced into second with two laps to go.
At the finish, Hirthler crossed the stripe first ahead of Hill, Weaver, Kemery (started 24th), and Buffalino. Completing the top ten were Brad Roberts, P.J. Bozowski, Zane Roth, Mike Hughes, Jr., and McIntyre.
Turpin Scores First Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Victory.Andrew Turpin took command immediately at the start of the DCB’s Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series A-Main and never looked back. Tyler Grau settled into second ahead of Eddie Wagner, Kyle Spence, and Jon Brennfleck.
The event’s first caution flew on lap four when Tim Iulg slowed entering turn three. On the ensuing restart, Ryan Stillwaggon flipped on the homestretch, collecting Cody West and Kyle Exley. Only West was able to continue.
Turpin controlled the remainder of the event as the final laps ran caution-free. He crossed the finish line for his first career Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series victory. Kyle Spence finished second followed by Troy Betts, Brian Carber, and Dave Brown. Rounding out the top ten were Grau, Jared Kreider, Rick Lafferty, Tyler Brehm, and Wagner.
Baldwin Dominates Street Stocks feature event.Spider Ensinger, Sr. led the opening laps of the StraightUp Construction Street Stock feature over Nick Sandone III, Mike Baldwin, Christopher Allen, Jr., and Spider Ensinger, Jr.
Baldwin moved into second before taking the lead on lap three. From there, Baldwin controlled the race to the finish. Allen crossed the line second followed by Spider Ensinger, Jr., Sandone, and Spider Ensinger, Sr.
The Victory Fuel Wingless Sprint feature closed out the evening with Jonathan Swanson leading the opening circuits over Shea Wills, David Swanson, Mick D’Agnostino, and Christopher Allen, Jr.
Wayne Scott worked through the field and climbed to second on lap seven before a lap 13 red flag .
Following the restart, Wills surged past Jonathan Swanson for the lead and drove away for his first win of the season. Jonathan Swanson finished second with J.R. Fulper, Heidi Hedin, and Wayne Scott completing the top five.
Tom Carpenter became the first repeat winner of the season in the D.A. Auto Body & Repair Rookie division. James Allen finished second followed by Tyler Lilick, Brayden Morrison, and Drew Ziegler.
