STEUER AND PECK FIRST TO REPEAT AT BRIDGEPORT. Hughes Doubles Up, Fulper Takes Wingless Sprints.

91 race cars packed the pits Saturday night despite showers in the area. Bridgeport again forges on, with another spectacular event.

Dillon Steuer became the season’s first repeat winner in the Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz Modified division, claiming his second A-Main of the year. Matt Peck matched the feat in the Ice Less LLC 602 Sportsman A-Main, also scoring his second victory of the season.

Mike Hughes, Jr. had a big night, first winning the 8-lap D.A.’s Auto Body and Repair Rookie feature, then returning later to capture the 15-lap A-Main in the Insta Signs Plus Street Stock division. J.R. Fulper took the checkers in the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints, becoming the latest winner in the division.

Steuer charges from 12th starting position to victory lane. Stan Frankenfield, Jr. and Roger Manning led the Modified field to the green with Frankenfield pacing the opening lap before an early caution. On the restart, Manning surged to the lead and controlled the next seven laps before Dillon Steuer made his move to the front.

At halfway, Steuer led Manning, followed by Neal Williams, Cale Ross, and Rick Laubach. A caution on lap 18 bunched the field, but Steuer maintained control when racing resumed. Ross and Laubach both passed Manning to take second and third, respectively. Manning held on for fourth, while Williams completed the top five. Sammy Martz, Jr., Brandon Grosso, Cole Stangle, Ryan Krachun, and H.J. Bunting rounded out the top ten.

In the 602 Sportsman A-Main, Tim Borror and Ethan Young led the field to the start, with Young grabbing the early advantage. Peck wasted no time, climbing to second within five laps and overtaking Young a lap later.

A fierce battle developed for second between Young and Thomas Prychka. At halfway, Peck remained in command, trailed by Young, Prychka, Zane Roth, and Joe Toth. Both Young and Roth were eliminated in separate incidents.

Peck crossed the finish line 3.4 seconds ahead of Prychka. Jesse Hirthler made a late charge to finish third, followed by Toth, Jim Wyers, P.J. Bozowski, Luke Bunting, Charley Cossaboone, Jax Yohn, and Billy Chester.

Mike Hughes, Jr. picked up his second Rookie feature win of the season. Bozowski took second, followed by Cossaboone, Austin Myers, and Jessica Wessner.

Fulper Dominates Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints early and holds on late. J.R. Fulper led wire-to-wire in the Wingless Sprints A-Main, jumping out at the drop of the green. Behind him, Brendan Hires and Shea Wills battled for second, with Brian Spencer and Thomas Radivoy rounding out the top five. Late in the race, Fulper hit lapped traffic, allowing Hires to close the gap. Despite the pressure, Fulper held on to take the win.

The Insta Signs Plus Street Stock race delivered one of the wildest finishes in recent memory. Spider Ensinger, Jr. led early before a lap-one spin by Bailey Tolson brought out the caution. On the restart, Ensinger regained the lead, but a collision between him and his father, Ensinger, Sr., triggered another caution that also collected Brian Ludwig, Nick Sandone, and Terry Chaney.

Former champion Tom Wills, Jr. inherited the lead and looked untouchable, building a half-lap advantage. But a tangle with a slower car ended his night abruptly. That opened the door for Mike Hughes, Jr., who capitalized and took his third feature win of the year. Tolson finished second, followed by Gary Klimeczak, Bozowski, and Shane Grosso.
