The Bridgeport Speedway announced today that they will continue to offer their point titles for the Big Block Modifieds, 602 Crate/Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks on the 5/8th mile speedway in 2019. All systems are go for 2019.
There are plans for several special shows on the 3/8th mile track including the return of the USAC wingless sprint cars during the Eastern Storm as well as a visit from the World of Outlaws during the 2019 season.
Bridgeport is also involved in conversations with DIRTcar to obtain a date for the return of the Super DIRTcar series to the Bridgeport Speedway in 2019.
Bridgeport’s owner, Brian Ramey and the management team did not feel that the weather allowed them the time or the opportunity to fully explore the options that exist with the 3/8th mile track during this season. Weather wreaked havoc with all outdoor events this year, forcing the cancellation of many events including the World of Outlaws and the Super DIRTcar series.
The Bridgeport Speedway has also announced their 602 Crate Sportsman procedures for next season. After going all ‘crate’ in 2018 the Bridgeport Speedway Sportsman division saw an increase in car count as well as winners throughout the season. An astounding 13 different drivers visited Victory Lane in 16 races in this first year Crate-Lock process.
There will be no major rules changes in regards to the division with the exception of the running of track fuel. “A majority of the drivers already run track fuel, so it really isn’t going to change things all that much,” offered track owner Brian Ramey.
2018 Hardships that were offered last year, are no good for the 2019 season. These were ‘one year’ seals. New hardship seals are available again for the 2019 season. Anyone with a hardship seal from this year will need to either be dynoed at a cost of $450 and are good for a lifetime; or hardship sealed from Bridgeport Speedway at a cost of $250 and are also only good for one year. Anyone that was dynoed and sealed last season, or sealed a new engine are already 2019 legal. Drivers can race up to two times in the calendar year without being sealed before getting dynoed or hardshiped.
New 602 Crate engines can be purchased from any of the following Dyno Centers. The Speedway will supply seals and ensure documentation is submitted and approved. The track will continue to use the PACE seal system, but is no longer under contract with Killer Crate.
