Bridgeport Hires John McCaughey as Head Tech Inspector for 2017 Season

Bridgeport, NJ (March 14, 2017) –

Many improvements to Bridgeport’s facility have been made throughout the off-season including a fresh new coat of paint to the outside guardrail, new safety netting all along the back stretch fence, upgrades to the skyboxes, new concession equipment, and now the recent hiring of a new 2017 tech inspector.  John McCaughey has been hired to oversee all pre and post race tech inspections for the Big Blocks, Crate/Sportsman, and Outlaw Stocks for the upcoming race season.

McCaughey has been involved in dirt track racing in one form or another his entire life.  John’s father Craig was a staple racing his No. 301 modified at many of the local dirt tracks in the 70’s and 80’s.  John’s also tried his hand at driving at Flemington Speedway, helped his brothers Darren and Shawn throughout their racing careers, served as tech inspector at New Egypt for 8 seasons, and also race director there for 5 years.  Most recently, McCaughey played a roll in the 2015 811 Dig Safely 1/4 mile series as he was hired as the race director for all the events.

“I just want to thank Bridgeport for bringing me in and I’ll be sure to do the best job possible.  Bridgeport has come a long way in a short time thanks to the efforts of Brian, Danny, Keith, Dave, Kolby and the rest of the staff,” McCaughey expressed.  McCaughey will make his debut at this weekend’s first practice session of the ’17 season on Saturday (Gates @9am – Practice @noon).  Owner, Brian Ramey was very happy to find the missing ‘puzzle piece’ before the season started.  “We’ve tried to address every single issue/opportunity at the track as soon as they arise. However, finding a steady tech official has been a thorn in our side this past off season.  I’m confident that we’ve found our guy and want to thank and welcome John to the Bridgeport Family.  I have a feeling that year 5 will be our best yet,” Ramey offered.
